What does a remote software engineer do?

As a remote software engineer, you work from home to create and develop systems using programming languages and frameworks. As part of your duties, you design and install software solutions by determining specifications and developing code. • Build clean, maintainable, and efficient APIs and backend services.
  • Implement responsive, accessible front-end features that enhance user experience across devices.
  • Integrate with 3rd-party services and internal systems (e.g., payment systems, EHR/medical integration, authentication providers).
  • Participate in technical architecture reviews and recommend best practices for performance, security, and scalability.
  • Write unit and integration tests; collaborate in code reviews.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and production issues.
  • Document solutions, technical decisions, and application workflows.
  • Partner with product owners to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • PHP (e.g., Zend, W3Schools, or vendor-specific)

  • Experience with responsive web design and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to performance and security.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
