Job description

Overview

The Construction Project Manager (CPM) leads the planning and execution of ARH capital projects, including renovations, infrastructure upgrades, and ground-up construction projects. This position is responsible for managing project scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and compliance requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

The CPM coordinates the efforts of design and construction partners, collaborates with clinical and operational stakeholders, and ensures project activities are completed with minimal disruption to patient care and hospital operations within active healthcare environments.

Special InstructionsPosition will be remote; however, must visit facilities on-site as needed.ResponsibilitiesProject Delivery & Controls
  • Lead multiple capital projects simultaneously from concept through occupancy.
  • Establish and manage project scope, schedule, and budget baselines.
  • Manage project changes, Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, contingencies, and project documentation within Procore.
  • Serve as the Owner's Representative with architects, engineers, contractors, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), and end users.
  • Coordinate project phasing and logistics to minimize disruption to patient care and hospital operations.
Healthcare Codes, Standards, and Survey Readiness
  • Ensure project design and construction activities comply with applicable codes and Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) Guidelines for Design and Construction.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 101 Life Safety Code requirements and implement Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) when required.
  • Lead Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA 2.0) and Patient Care Risk Assessment (PCRA) processes in collaboration with Infection Prevention and Facilities teams.
  • Support Joint Commission and DNV survey readiness activities related to the Physical Environment.
Safety, Quality, and Commissioning
  • Enforce construction site safety programs, environmental controls, and ILSM/ICRA permit requirements.
  • Oversee owner verification and testing, punch list completion, system startup activities, staff training, and project turnover documentation.
  • Coordinate equipment planning activities and room readiness requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
  • Facilitate user group meetings and maintain effective communication with clinical leadership, operational stakeholders, and Facilities teams.
  • Manage enabling work, swing space planning, and phased occupancy activities.
Procurement and Contracting
  • Assist with architect/engineer (A/E) and construction manager/general contractor (CM/GC) selections, RFQ/RFP processes, bid analyses, and contract negotiations.
  • Administer contracts, pay applications, and change orders through Procore.
QualificationsRequired Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field required; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Required Experience
  • Five (5) or more years of project management experience required.
  • Experience with Procore required.
  • Knowledge of Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA), Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM), NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, and Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) Guidelines required.
  • Healthcare project management experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC), Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or ASHE ICRA certification preferred.
  • Experience in architecture, engineering, construction cost estimating, or medical equipment planning preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Owner's Representative mindset and approach to project management.
  • Knowledge of healthcare risk management, including ICRA and ILSM processes.
  • Strong understanding of FGI Guidelines, NFPA 101 requirements, and healthcare regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in Procore and digital construction project delivery tools.
  • Strong stakeholder communication and relationship management skills.
Work Conditions
  • Travel required among ARH facilities.
  • Ability to access active construction areas and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support facility shutdowns, phased construction activities, and project schedules.
