Position Title: Sr. Ansible Automation Engineer

Position Status: 18-Month Contract (Potential Extension or Contract-to-Hire)
Pay Rate: $60-$70/hour (Depends on qualification)
Position Description: Seneca Resources is seeking an experienced Senior Ansible Automation Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise infrastructure automation initiative for a highly respected federal financial institution.
This role is ideal for an automation engineer who thrives in enterprise environments and enjoys designing scalable, secure automation solutions that improve operational efficiency. You'll play a key role in modernizing infrastructure operations by developing self-service automation capabilities, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and API-driven automation solutions across Linux, Windows, and cloud platforms.
Working alongside infrastructure, platform engineering, security, and DevOps teams, you'll help deliver enterprise automation solutions supporting mission-critical systems while leveraging modern technologies including Ansible, Python, FastAPI, CI/CD, REST APIs, and Infrastructure as Code.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise automation solutions using Ansible Playbooks, Roles, Modules, and Workflows.
  • Build scalable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to automate infrastructure provisioning and operational processes.
  • Develop advanced automation using Python, Bash, and PowerShell to streamline complex operational tasks.
  • Design and build RESTful APIs using FastAPI or Flask to integrate and orchestrate enterprise automation workflows.
  • Implement automation across Linux, Windows, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, version control processes, automated testing, and deployment strategies.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, Security, and Operations teams within Agile and Scaled Agile environments.
  • Ensure automation solutions follow enterprise security standards, secure coding practices, and operational governance.
  • Troubleshoot production automation issues and provide ongoing support for deployed solutions.
  • Create technical documentation, runbooks, knowledge articles, and operational procedures.
  • Evaluate emerging automation technologies and contribute to automation standards and best practices.

Required Skills & Education
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise automation, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or software development.
  • Expert-level experience with Ansible Automation Platform, including Playbooks, Roles, Modules, Collections, and Workflows.
  • Strong programming and scripting experience with Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell.
  • Experience developing REST APIs using FastAPI or Flask.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and automation frameworks.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, source control, and automated testing.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix, Windows Server, and cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure).
  • Experience integrating automation across enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Familiarity with Git, version control, and software development best practices.
  • Experience working within Agile or SAFe environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience integrating automation with ServiceNow, VMware Aria, or similar orchestration platforms.
  • Experience supporting highly regulated enterprise or financial environments.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and enterprise security standards.
