What is a Remote SOC Analyst?

A Remote SOC (Security Operations Center) Analyst is a cybersecurity professional who monitors and analyzes an organization's IT infrastructure for potential security threats, incidents, and vulnerabilities from a remote location. They use security tools like SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems to detect and respond to cyber threats in real time. Their responsibilities include investigating alerts, mitigating risks, and escalating critical issues to higher-level security teams. Remote SOC Analysts help protect organizations from cyberattacks while working from home or an offsite location.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote SOC Analyst?

To thrive as a Remote SOC Analyst, you need a solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, incident response, and threat analysis, generally backed by a degree in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with security information and event management (SIEM) tools, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and certifications like CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CEH is typically expected. Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and clear, concise communication skills make candidates stand out. These competencies are vital for promptly detecting and mitigating security threats while ensuring effective remote collaboration within the security team.

What are some typical challenges faced by Remote SOC Analysts, and how are they managed?

Remote SOC Analysts often face challenges such as coordinating effectively with a distributed team, staying updated on rapidly evolving threats, and maintaining vigilance while working independently. To manage these, they leverage collaborative platforms, participate in regular virtual briefings, and use advanced monitoring and alert systems to maintain real-time awareness. Access to clear protocols and ongoing training helps analysts stay aligned on best practices and new cyber threat intelligence. Building strong communication channels with colleagues and supervisors ensures incidents are addressed efficiently and team cohesion remains high, even in a remote setting.

Can a remote SOC analyst be remote?

A remote SOC analyst can perform their duties from any location with a reliable internet connection, as the role primarily involves monitoring security alerts, analyzing threats, and using security tools remotely. Many organizations hire remote SOC analysts to support 24/7 security operations, often requiring familiarity with security information and event management (SIEM) systems and relevant certifications. The role typically offers flexibility in work location, provided security protocols and communication requirements are met.

Is a remote SOC analyst still in demand?

Remote SOC analysts are in high demand due to increasing cybersecurity threats and the need for 24/7 monitoring of networks and systems. Employers seek professionals with skills in security tools, incident response, and certifications like CompTIA Security+ or CISSP, making remote opportunities widely available in the cybersecurity field.

Job description

TrendAI, the global AI security leader and enterprise business unit of Trend Micro, empowers organizations with full AI visibility and consolidated security that inspires confidence, drives innovation, and eliminates risk.
At TrendAI, we're always seeking exceptional talent; people who want to collaborate with the best and push boundaries together. Here, your work goes beyond building a career. You will help protect what matters and play a vital role in shaping a safer, more trustworthy AI-powered future.
AI Fearlessly.

Position Summary

Trend AI is seeking a Senior Channel Solutions Engineer - X Service Provider to onboard, enable, and scale Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs), Managed Service Providers (MSPs), Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) and Digital Forensics Incident Response (DFIR) partners. This role is purpose-built to strengthen Trend's services-led go-to-market strategy. The ideal candidate brings deep cybersecurity expertise, strong offensive security instincts, and experience working within or alongside managed security operations environments.

As a trusted technical advisor to our managed services ecosystem, you will guide partners in operationalizing Trend Vision One within multi-tenant environments, integrating with SOC workflows, and delivering measurable detection and response outcomes. You will serve as the technical bridge between partner needs and platform capabilities, driving scalable adoption, shared revenue growth, and long-term advocacy across the channel ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical advisor for MSSPs, MSPs, CSPs and Digital Forensics Incident Response partners, enabling them to evaluate, operationalize, and scale Trend's platform within managed service offerings.
  • Lead technical onboarding for new managed security partners, including architecture validation, multi-tenant design, SOC workflow alignment, and service-readiness assessments.
  • Develop a deep understanding of partner service models (managed detection, threat hunting, incident response retainers, cyber risk advisory) and align platform capabilities to support service monetization and operational excellence.
  • Support detection engineering, threat hunting alignment, and adversary simulation validation in collaboration with red teams, SOC analysts, and IR professionals.
  • Assist partners in integrating Trend Vision One with SIEM, SOAR, ticketing, automation pipelines, APIs, and other SOC tooling.
  • Provide guidance to partners engaging with cyber insurance carriers and underwriters, mapping platform capabilities to risk reduction, control validation, and insurability requirements.
  • Support partner-led Proof of Concepts (POCs), purple team exercises, and technical validation efforts to demonstrate measurable detection and response effectiveness.
  • Develop service-aligned enablement assets including managed security blueprints, deployment guides, demo flows, onboarding frameworks, and SOC integration playbooks.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Channel, and Customer Success to ensure partner feedback informs roadmap and service-delivery enhancements.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of threat actor tactics, MITRE ATT&CK techniques, detection methodologies, competitive positioning, and emerging adversarial trends.
  • Travel within the U.S. for partner onboarding sessions, joint technical engagements, SOC workshops, and managed security ecosystem events.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in cybersecurity, computer science, information security, or related technical fields.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, Solutions Engineering, SOC operations, Incident Response, red teaming, or managed security environments.
  • Partner Experience: Proven experience working with MSSPs, MDR providers, IR firms, or security consultancies.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of XDR, SIEM, EDR, cloud security, threat intelligence, and detection engineering principles.
  • Architecture: Experience designing or supporting multi-tenant managed security architectures.
  • SOC Familiarity: Hands-on familiarity with SOC workflows, ticketing systems, telemetry pipelines, and response orchestration.
  • Cloud Knowledge: Strong knowledge of public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage highly technical audiences including SOC analysts, red team operators, and CISO-level stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Ability to rapidly learn evolving adversary techniques and adapt platform positioning accordingly.

Bonus Qualifications

  • RMM/PSA tool experience, with knowledge of MSP operations and software deployment via Remote Management and Monitoring tools.

  • Red team experience, adversary emulation background, or penetration testing expertise.
  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), OSCP, or other offensive security certifications.
  • Direct experience in Incident Response or threat hunting roles.
  • Experience supporting cyber insurance assessments, risk quantification frameworks, or underwriting conversations.
  • Hands-on experience with API integrations, scripting, automation, or lightweight coding (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Experience building managed security service offerings, SOC runbooks, or service blueprints.
  • Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK, detection tuning, and purple team collaboration.
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory frameworks (SOC2, NIST, ISO 27001, PCI, HIPAA).
  • Experience applying AI/ML or LLM-driven workflows to SOC automation or managed detection operations.

Preferred Certifications

  • CISSP, CEH, OSCP, CCSP, Security+, CySA+, CISM, CISA, or other ISACA certifications.
  • GIAC certifications (GCED, GCIA, GCIH, GPEN, etc.).
  • AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect, or GCP Professional Cloud Architect.
  • Cloud Security or Kubernetes security certifications.
