This role is conducted remotely, utilizing telehealth technology to provide counseling services. • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying individual care needs and formulating tailored treatment plans.
• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, addressing complex emotional challenges related to aging, life transitions, and loss.
• Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals—such as physicians, social workers, and nurses—to develop integrated care plans that ensure the best possible outcomes for our geriatric patients.
• Provide education and support to family members and caregivers, equipping them with tools and strategies to enhance the emotional health of their loved ones.
• Implement cognitive stimulation programs and evidence-based mental health interventions that promote mental acuity and overall well-being among older adults.
• Offer grief counseling services to clients and their families, helping them navigate end-of-life issues with sensitivity and compassion.

You will primarily work with elderly individuals facing diverse mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, grief, and stress related to aging. Our clinic serves a population that often requires a nuanced understanding of the psychological impacts of aging, requiring counselors who are not only knowledgeable but also empathetic to the unique experiences of seniors and their families.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential in the state of Florida.
• A minimum of three years of recent experience providing mental health counseling services, particularly in geriatric settings.
• Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practices geared towards promoting the mental health of older adults.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with elderly clientele and their families.
• A strong sense of empathy and cultural sensitivity to effectively support diverse populations.
• Thorough understanding of ethical and legal standards related to geriatric mental health counseling.
