Grace Place Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team in a full-time remote telehealth capacity. As a Mental Health Counselor at Grace Place Counseling Center, your specific responsibilities will include:

• Conducting initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of clients' mental, behavioral, and emotional health to gather important diagnostic information.
• Creating and executing tailored intervention and recovery plans for individuals, couples, families, and groups, ensuring each plan aligns with best practices and client goals.
• Facilitating both individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based methodologies and therapeutic techniques to foster client engagement and healing.
• Regularly monitoring client progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary, promoting maximum effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
• Collaborating with other mental health professionals, including psychiatrists and social workers, to develop integrated treatment strategies that address all facets of a client’s health.
• Providing referrals to external resources such as support groups, medical professionals, and community services to enhance client care.
• Supporting family members and primary caregivers by providing education on mental health challenges and strategies for support.

The clients we serve at Grace Place Counseling Center include individuals from diverse backgrounds presenting with various mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and adjustment disorders. We also work with families facing relational difficulties and couples in need of therapy. Your role will be critical in fostering a safe and welcoming environment for these clients to express their concerns and pursue their mental health goals.

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• A current and valid license as an LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW in the state of Illinois.
• Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
• Strong clinical foundation with a background in implementing therapeutic techniques in both individual and group settings.

While the qualifications above are essential, the following experience is highly desirable:

• Previous professional experience as a mental health counselor, with a proven record of effective client care.
• Familiarity with electronic health records systems, specifically AVATAR or similar software, to ensure accurate documentation of client interactions.
• Experience working with clients who have co-occurring mental and substance use disorders, providing integrated approaches to treatment.
• Knowledge of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices and guidelines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and maintain a supportive therapeutic relationship.
