What is a remote shopper?

Remote shoppers are individuals who assist customers with purchasing goods and services online or over the phone, rather than in a physical store. They help clients select products, compare options, place orders, and sometimes coordinate deliveries. Remote shoppers may work for retail companies, grocery stores, or specialized shopping services. Their main goal is to provide a convenient and personalized shopping experience for customers who prefer or need to shop remotely.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote shopper?

To thrive as a Remote Shopper, you need strong attention to detail, product knowledge, and customer service skills, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with online ordering systems, inventory management software, and mobile apps is typically required. Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities help you stand out in this customer-focused role. These skills and qualities are crucial to accurately fulfill orders, provide a positive customer experience, and ensure efficient operations in a remote shopping environment.

How do remote shoppers effectively communicate with clients and team members to ensure accurate order fulfillment?

Remote Shoppers typically use a combination of messaging apps, email, and company platforms to stay in touch with both clients and their support teams throughout the shopping process. Clear communication is key for clarifying preferences, substitutions, and delivery details, especially when working remotely. Many employers provide dedicated tools or apps to streamline updates and approvals, making collaboration efficient despite the physical distance. Being proactive in updating clients about product availability and coordinating with logistics or customer service teams helps ensure orders are completed accurately and on time.

Job description

Job Description

Position Summary

The Manager, Shopper Insights is a seasoned market research professional that serves as a navigator of the omnichannel marketplace and champion for our current and future shoppers and inspires the organization to act in their best interest. This individual will report into the Beer Insights organization and will partner with a range of stakeholders including Beer Marketing/Activation, SET, CatMan, National Accounts, etc. This person will collaborate to shape business priorities with the shopper in mind, bring disparate data into a synthesized story, and drive adoption of actionable items that give Constellation Brands an edge today and into the future.

This person will partner across key stakeholders to identify the highest impact problems to solve, develop a robust learning agenda to answer key questions and ensure the learning is delivered and actioned across the organization. This person will also partner closely with the rest of the Beer Insights team to ensure relevant data/insights are incorporated into shopper stories and customer-facing content.

We are looking for a Shopper Insights Manager who specializes in storytelling for a commercial organization. This role is intended to partner closely with the sales organization, including SET and National Accounts, to provide actionable, story-driven insights that enable Constellation Brands to show up as a thought-leader to our distributor and retail partners. This position will serve as the bridge between our Insights teams and our sales organization, translating complex shopper data into persuasive, "sales-friendly" narratives that win at the shelf, with a primary focus on commercial activation.

Your success will be measured not by the number of studies conducted, but by how effectively those insights are integrated into retailer presentations, joint business plans (JBPs), and category reviews.
Key Responsibilities

  • Liaison to Sales: Act as the primary point of contact for the sales team, attending key account meetings to provide the "voice of the shopper" in a language that resonates with buyers.
  • Custom Research Guru: Identify knowledge gaps and design research (qualitative and quantitative) to help answer most critical business questions.
  • Insights Translation: Transform data from primary research including path-to-purchase studies into high-impact visual decks and sales collateral by creating the 'sales-friendly' version of the work.
  • The "So What?" Expert: Analyze existing proprietary and syndicated data (Circana, Numerator, Placer AI, other syndicated tools) to extract actionable recommendations that drive volume and share.
  • Retailer Storytelling: Collaborate with Key Account Managers to build custom, insights-driven narratives for major retailers, ensuring our brands solve specific retailer pain points.
  • Feedback Loop: Communicate field realities back to the research team to ensure future insights projects are designed with commercial application in mind.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Requires Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years in Shopper or Brand Insights, Category Management, or Sales Strategy within the CPG industry.
Research Design: Experience with a variety of research methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative, focused on understanding shopping behavior and retailer dynamics.
  • Commercial Acumen: A deep understanding of the commercial organization of a major beer or CPG organization, distributor dynamics, and retailer/buyer needs and expectations.
Communication Mastery: Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to influence both internal stakeholders and external retail buyers.
  • The Translator Mindset: An innate ability to take a 50-page research deck and distill it into the "must-win" slides for the sales org.
  • Data Proficiency: Comfortable navigating complex data sources across multiple sources to find a clear, cohesive story that resonates with stakeholders.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Lifting may be required.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Ability to travel domestically, an average of 30%
