SharePoint SAM / Copilot Readiness Consultant
Dallas, TX Area (Mostly Remote – Local Candidates Only)

We are seeking an experienced SharePoint SAM / Copilot Readiness Consultant to support a large-scale Microsoft 365 governance and Copilot readiness initiative. This role will focus on optimizing and governing SharePoint Online and OneDrive environments to ensure organizational data is secure, structured, and ready for Microsoft Copilot adoption.

This is a mostly remote contract role; however, candidates must reside in the Dallas area for occasional onsite meetings and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

SharePoint Online & OneDrive Administration

  • Administer and manage SharePoint Online and OneDrive environments
  • Configure and support SharePoint Advanced Management (SAM) features
  • Conduct Content Management Assessments using SAM tools
  • Identify and manage content sprawl across SharePoint environments
  • Utilize Data Access Governance (DAG) reports to identify and remediate oversharing and permission risks
  • Implement and maintain site lifecycle policies to govern content retention and archival
  • Provide recommendations for recurring SharePoint maintenance and housekeeping activities

Data Governance & Copilot Readiness

  • Strengthen SharePoint data access governance and permissions hygiene
  • Identify orphaned sites, inactive content, and ownership gaps
  • Clean up stale, duplicate, and low-value content
  • Monitor site usage, storage consumption, and external sharing activity
  • Utilize SharePoint automation agents/tools to streamline governance tasks
  • Align SharePoint and OneDrive environments with Microsoft Copilot governance and security best practices

Required Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience administering SharePoint Online and OneDrive
  • Experience with SharePoint Advanced Management (SAM) capabilities
  • Background in Microsoft 365 governance, permissions management, and content lifecycle management
  • Experience working with data governance, access controls, and security/compliance initiatives
  • Understanding of Microsoft Copilot readiness and M365 governance best practices
