Position Summary

We are seeking an energetic, commercially driven Territory Sales Engineer to lead direct sales efforts across a key regional territory. Operating in a high-visibility, field-focused role, you will bypass third-party dealer networks to prospect, present, and close capital equipment deals directly with business owners, plant directors, and operations managers. This position is ideal for a proactive sales professional who excels on the road, enjoys visiting shop floors, and thrives on building long-term, high-value client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute targeted outreach and cold entry strategies into manufacturing facilities to discover new capital investment projects.
  • Own the entire sales process from initial contact and shop floor assessments to tailored technical proposals, ROI calculations, closing, and account growth.
  • Travel regularly within the territory to evaluate client production bottlenecks and demonstrate equipment value directly to key decision-makers.
  • Maintain an organized pipeline using modern sales tools while balancing travel, prospecting, and active deal negotiations.
  • Work closely with internal engineering, applications, and support teams to deliver a smooth customer experience.
  • Represent the brand at regional trade events and industry gatherings.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Proven experience in direct B2B outside sales, ideally selling capital equipment, industrial machinery, or technical systems.
  • Strong comfort level conducting direct business development, including walk-ins and site visits to manufacturing facilities.
  • Ability to quickly learn complex product lines, technical specifications, and value-based selling strategies.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the credibility to present effectively to both plant personnel and executive leadership.
  • Self-motivated with the discipline to manage a travel schedule, cover a large territory, and work independently.
  • Valid driver's license and readiness for frequent regional travel (typically 3+ days on the road per week).

Preferred Experience

  • Background selling industrial laser systems, automated cutting equipment, or metal fabrication machinery.
  • Existing familiarity with industrial job shops or sheet metal and plate fabricators.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Target Earnings: $250,000+ total compensation
  • Base Salary: $100,000 – $110,000
  • Vehicle & Travel: Company vehicle program or allowance, plus full reimbursement for business expenses.
  • Benefits: Comprehensive health coverage and 401(k) eligibility starting Day 1.

Location & Travel

  • Territory: Regional territory covering major industrial markets across the central US.
