Job description

Description
Awayday is on a mission to perfect the vacation rental experience, and this role works the front end of that journey. While our guest marketing SEO team chases travelers dreaming about their next trip, you will chase the people behind the properties. The Owner Marketing SEO Specialist owns the searches that matter to owners deciding whether to join our management programs and to buyers shopping for real estate across our brands. Bring them in, and you grow both the supply and the sales that the rest of the company depends on. This is a fully remote role, reporting to the SEO Manager.
This is a role for someone who wants to own the strategy, not just execute someone else's playbook. Working alongside the SEO Manager, you will decide where the organic search opportunities are, build the roadmap to win them, and drive the work across on-page, technical, local, off-page, and AI search. You will find the opportunities, decide where to invest time and resources, and deploy the SEO strategies that capture demand before competitors see it coming. When a page climbs and turns into leads and conversions, that is your work.
You will not do it alone. Our Brand Excellence Managers know their local markets deeply and connect each brand to the wider marketing team, and you will work with them closely for ideas, context, and reporting. Local is not a buzzword here. It is how every brand earns its place in its own market.
One last thing, because it matters more than the tool stack. We have no interest in the quick hack that spikes for a quarter and fizzles. We are after growth that compounds, the kind you can still point to three years from now. We love being first to try something, and we care even more about getting it right. If servant leadership, real ownership, a love of local, and a high bar for excellence sound like you, you will fit in fast.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
SEO Strategy, Research & New Page Development (~10%)
  • Own and develop the SEO strategy and roadmap for owner acquisition and real estate sales, in partnership with the SEO Manager.
  • Plan and prioritize new landing pages, location hubs, and content that capture high-intent and top-of-funnel demand.
  • Conduct keyword and market research across owner, buyer, and investment-property search intent.
  • Build SEO requirements and briefs for new pages, and partner with content resources on production.
  • Map keywords and intent to the right page types, and recommend URL structures.
  • Analyze SERPs and competitors to identify ranking gaps and content opportunities.

Technical SEO (~20%)
  • Conduct regular technical scans and aggregate findings across tools, including SEMrush, Screaming Frog, and Google Search Console.
  • Prioritize issues by impact, then assign and coordinate fixes with internal and dev teams.
  • Assist with the implementation of technical issues like redirect mapping, indexing issues, page bloat, crawl inefficiencies, and duplicate content cleanup.
  • Implement and validate structured data and schema across relevant page types.
  • Maintain XML sitemaps and robots directives.
  • Monitor Core Web Vitals and coordinate page experience fixes with the dev team.

On-Page SEO (~25%)
  • Optimize titles, meta descriptions, headers, copy, and internal links on owner and real estate pages.
  • Strengthen internal linking to pass authority to priority conversion pages.
  • Optimize pages for search intent, featured snippets, and other SERP features.
  • Generate content briefs then optimize new landing pages that drive leads and conversions
  • Facilitate revamps for landing pages, guides, and blogs in line with SEO best practices.

Local SEO & Google Business Profile (~15%)
  • Optimize Google Business Profiles across local brands and markets.
  • Build and optimize local landing pages and location hubs to capture market-level demand.
  • Manage citations, NAP consistency, and local listings.
  • Implement local schema and optimize for the map pack and local SERP features.

AI Search & LLM Visibility (~10%)
  • Develop visibility across AI Overviews, AI assistants, and large language models for owner and real estate queries.
  • Build and optimize entity signals, including structured data, consistent entity references, and knowledge graph presence.
  • Apply answer-first formatting and other AI signals that improve how our brands are understood and surfaced in generative search.
  • Track AI search, GEO, and zero-click trends, and adapt strategy to protect and grow visibility.

Authority & EEAT Development (~10%)
  • Strengthen EEAT signals across owner and real estate content.
  • Build topical authority around key markets, property types, and owner and buyer questions.
  • Earn quality links and citations that support priority pages and monitor the backlink profile for risks.

Team Guidelines & Best Practices (~5%)
  • Help develop scalable SEO playbooks and best practices, in collaboration with other SEO Specialists and the SEO Manager.
  • Help evolve best practices for SEO, AI SEO, GEO, and LLM visibility as the discipline matures.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting (~5%)
  • Track organic performance in GA4 and Google Search Console against owner and real estate goals.
  • Monitor rankings, visibility, traffic, and conversions, and flag underperformance.
  • Support reporting in partnership with Brand Excellence Managers.

Success in This Role Looks Like
  • New and existing pages that rank and convert for owner acquisition and real estate sales.
  • Durable, compounding gains in organic visibility, traffic, and conversions rather than short-lived spikes.
  • Our brands are showing up in traditional organic search as well as new AI and LLM results when owners and buyers go looking.
  • A strong local presence and map pack visibility in priority markets.
  • Scalable best practices that respect what makes each brand unique.
  • Reliable collaboration with the SEO Manager, Brand Excellence Managers, development, and other internal marketing teams.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on SEO experience across on-page, technical, local, and off-page SEO.
  • Strong grasp of SEO fundamentals, including crawling, indexing, ranking factors, search intent, and EEAT.
  • Hands-on technical SEO experience implementing and coordinating fixes with dev teams.
  • Experience in planning, developing, and optimizing landing pages and content for organic growth.
  • Experience with local SEO and Google Business Profile.
  • Familiarity with AI search, GEO, and LLM visibility, including AI Overviews, entity optimization, and answer-first formats.
  • Comfort using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity in SEO workflows.
  • Proficiency with SEMrush, Screaming Frog, GA4, and Google Search Console.
  • Ability to read analytics and backlink data and turn it into action.
  • A long-term mindset that favors sustainable strategies over shortcuts and quick wins.
  • Strong organization and the ability to manage multiple brands, sites, and priorities at once.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Experience using project management tools; ClickUp is a plus.

Nice to Have
  • Experience in vacation rental, hospitality, travel, or real estate.
  • Experience driving leads, owner acquisition, or sales through SEO.
  • A strong feel for EEAT and trust signals in higher-stakes niches.
  • Experience building SEO guidelines, playbooks, or best practices for a team.
  • Conversion rate optimization experience (a plus, not the primary focus).
  • Experience across a multi-brand or multi-location portfolio.
  • Experience with WordPress and PMS-driven websites.
