Is Django still used in 2026?

Django remains a popular and widely used web framework for senior developers, especially in backend development and API creation. Its strong community, extensive libraries, and support for Python make it a relevant choice for modern web applications in 2026.

What is the highest salary for Django developer?

The highest salaries for senior Django developers can exceed $150,000 annually, especially for those with extensive experience, specialized skills, or working in high-cost-of-living areas. What are Remote Senior Django Developers?

Remote Senior Django Developers are experienced software engineers who specialize in building and maintaining web applications using the Django framework, while working from a location outside of a traditional office setting. They are responsible for designing scalable backend architecture, implementing robust APIs, and ensuring high performance and security of web applications. In addition to strong Python and Django skills, these professionals typically have experience with databases, version control, and frontend technologies. As senior developers, they often mentor junior team members, participate in architectural decisions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Working remotely, they rely on digital communication tools to coordinate with colleagues and manage their workload effectively.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Senior Django Developers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Senior Django Developers often encounter challenges such as coordinating effectively with distributed teams, managing time zone differences, and ensuring code quality across multiple contributors. To address these, it's helpful to leverage collaborative tools like version control systems (e.g., Git), maintain clear and consistent communication through daily stand-ups or messaging platforms, and participate in regular code reviews. Staying proactive about documentation and aligning with team workflows can further smooth collaboration and enhance productivity in a remote setting.

Role Overview

Ad Hoc is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to support the modernization of enterprise-scale systems and infrastructure supporting NASA programs.

This role is ideal for engineers who thrive at the intersection of software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps. While the position includes hands-on Java development, the primary focus will be on infrastructure automation, deployment modernization, cloud engineering, and improving software delivery practices.

During the initial phase of the program, this individual will focus heavily on DevOps initiatives, helping mature deployment pipelines, automation capabilities, cloud infrastructure, and operational processes. As modernization efforts evolve, responsibilities will become more balanced between DevOps engineering and Java application development.

We have a strong preference for candidates located near Greenbelt, Maryland, or candidates willing to travel onsite periodically for badging and program-related activities.

This role will require the ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance.

What You'll Do

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release processes

• Support cloud and hybrid-cloud infrastructure modernization efforts

• Improve system reliability, observability, monitoring, and operational efficiency

• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code and automation frameworks

• Support application deployments, production troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based backend services and integrations

• Build and support RESTful APIs and distributed system integrations

• Collaborate with engineers, product teams, QA, DevOps, and client stakeholders in agile environments

• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical planning activities

• Contribute to software engineering and DevOps best practices across the program

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, or related experience and a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent additional experience in lieu of a degree

• Strong hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and cloud infrastructure

• Experience supporting cloud-native environments using AWS or similar cloud platforms

• Familiarity with modern DevOps and platform engineering tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar technologies

• Experience implementing infrastructure automation, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code practices in enterprise environments

• Experience supporting application deployment, release management, and operational excellence initiatives across software delivery teams

• 5+ years of hands-on Java development experience

• Strong experience with Spring Framework and RESTful web services

• Experience supporting enterprise applications in production environments

• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across application and infrastructure layers

• Experience working within agile software development teams

• Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance

• Ability to travel onsite to a NASA location for badging and program support

• Strong preference for candidates who can work onsite in Greenbelt, MD as needed

Desired Qualifications

• Experience supporting NASA or federal civilian agencies

• Experience modernizing legacy enterprise systems

• Experience with event-driven architectures and distributed systems

• Experience with Spring Batch

• Experience working within government consulting or federal contracting environments

• Experience supporting cloud or hybrid-cloud environments

• Experience establishing or leading DevOps practices across engineering organizations

• Experience with AWS services commonly used in modern application and infrastructure environments

• Experience with platform engineering concepts, developer enablement, and internal developer platforms

• Experience implementing observability, monitoring, logging, and performance management solutions

• Familiarity with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog, or similar monitoring platforms

Location & Travel

• Remote role with strong preference for candidates near Greenbelt, MD

• Periodic travel required for NASA badging and onsite activities

Benefits

• Company-subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance

• Flexible PTO

• 401(k) with employer match

• Paid parental leave after one year of service

• Employee Assistance Program
