• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients to determine their individual care needs and formulate appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide individual and group counseling sessions that specifically address emotional challenges related to aging, such as loneliness, grief, and adjustment disorders.
• Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including nurses, social workers, and family members, to develop and implement holistic care plans that prioritize the mental well-being of geriatric residents.
• Educate families and caregivers about interventions and strategies designed to support elderly individuals in enhancing their emotional health and quality of life.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling, offering compassionate support to residents and their families navigating end-of-life issues.
• Implement cognitive stimulation programs and various therapeutic interventions to enhance mental acuity and engagement among elderly clients.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
• A valid and active Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
• At least 4 years of recent experience in geriatric counseling, including working with seniors facing diverse mental health challenges.
• Demonstrated understanding of evidence-based interventions tailored to the geriatric population.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective engagement with elderly clients and their families.

• Advanced training or specialization in geriatric mental health and aging-related issues.
• Experience delivering telehealth counseling services, with proficiency in using virtual platforms for patient engagement.
• Proven ability to perform thorough mental health assessments and design personalized treatment approaches.
• Knowledge of ethical and legal standards in the provision of geriatric mental health counseling.
• Empathy and cultural sensitivity to effectively support older adults from diverse backgrounds.
