Inner Canvas Wellness is seeking a dedicated and flexible Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our compassionate team in Norfolk, Virginia. This full-time, remote position allows you to provide essential out-of-home therapeutic services to children dealing with developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges, ensuring that families receive the support they need during crucial times.

Work Environment

This role will be primarily remote, providing flexibility to conduct therapy sessions either virtually or at our outpatient office when necessary. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct individual in-home therapy sessions tailored to meet the unique needs of each child, as well as facilitate engaging group therapy sessions at our outpatient center.
• Implement evidence-based techniques to teach anger management, coping strategies, and social skills, working actively to diminish high-risk behaviors such as self-injury and aggression.
• Collaborate closely with caregivers to empower them with effective decision-making skills that address and manage in-home behavioral challenges.
• Engage in thorough communication and collaboration with the Child Family Treatment Team and other interdisciplinary professionals to ensure a well-rounded support for youth and their families.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including intake assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, adhering to designated organizational timelines.
• Participate in monthly staff meetings to review cases, share insights, and submit recommendations for additional support or resources.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This position primarily serves children aged 3-20 years who experience developmental and intellectual disabilities. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing tailored therapeutic strategies that cater to their unique emotional and behavioral needs. Your expertise will not only assist the children but also equip their families with the tools necessary to enhance their interpersonal dynamics and daily functioning.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, or a related field is required for this position.
• An active and unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license is a must.
• A minimum availability of 5-10 hours per week during after-school hours (4-7 PM) is essential, along with the potential for weekend sessions as needed.
• A valid driver’s license and access to a registered vehicle are necessary for commuting to client homes when applicable.
• Successful candidates must pass a comprehensive criminal background check, including fingerprinting.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in providing positive behavior support and interventions is highly preferred.
• Experience working with children between the ages of 3-20, especially those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), is an advantage.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is competitively set at USD 75,000 to 100,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
