Job description

The Senior Data Engineer will design and build tools and processes that help clients derive meaningful insights from their data. They will help clients understand their data needs and how to use data to reach business goals. They will also provide mentoring to data engineers. They will work closely and collaboratively with our Data Architect and Business Solution Advisor, to develop solutions being increase value and confidence in our clients' data environments.
Responsibilities:
  • Designs and implements secure data integration solutions for operations and analytics, leveraging best practices to design and implement high-performing ETL/ELT solutions
  • Performs root cause analysis on data sets and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Builds and maintains KPI dashboards to disseminate information to measure/track results and drive business decisions
  • Integrate reports, audits, and processes from various business systems
  • Advocates for data quality and increases awareness of data stewardship and data governance concepts among data producers and consumers
  • Assist with defining and maintaining business rules, policies, and governance for data
  • Collaborates with Data Architect on project goals and approach
  • Assist peers and data engineers as needed, to keep the team as productive and efficient as possible
  • Work with QA and development peers to review and test code changes

Requirements
  • A minimum of eight years of progressive responsibility working as a Data Engineer or Data Integration Developer.
  • Advanced SQL skills with experience working with Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, Fabric Warehouse, Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, and large-scale structured and semi-structured datasets
  • Knowledge to leverage Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities within Microsoft Fabric, Azure Machine Learning, Azure AI Services, and Python-based data science solutions
  • Referenceable work history developing interactive dashboards and data visualizations using Power BI, Fabric Real-Time Intelligence, and Power BI Service
  • Demonstrated capabilities designing, implementing, and supporting cloud-native data platforms utilizing Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Azure, OneLake, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, and Azure data services
  • Strong background working with data integration and orchestration tools including Microsoft Fabric Data Factory, Azure Data Factory, Fabric Pipelines, and related ETL/ELT technologies
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise data models, dimensional models, data warehouses, Lakehouse architecture, and semantic models within Microsoft Fabric
  • Direct work history working within Agile, Scrum, DevOps, or DataOps development methodologies, including Azure DevOps for project management, CI/CD, and deployment automation
  • Experience with data governance, security, and compliance solutions including Microsoft Purview, Azure role-based access control (RBAC), and Fabric security models
  • Ability to collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, analysts, and solution architects to define data requirements and deliver scalable analytics solutions
  • Willingness to travel four to six times per year with no more than 24 days away from home in a calendar year.
