Remote Secret Clearance information

What are some common challenges of working in a remote position that requires Secret Clearance?

One challenge of a remote Secret Clearance role is maintaining strict security protocols while working outside a traditional secure facility. You’ll need to follow precise procedures for accessing and transmitting sensitive information, which can involve using specialized equipment or adhering to specific location requirements at home. Collaborating with team members may require extra coordination via secure channels, and troubleshooting technical issues remotely can be complex. However, employers often provide comprehensive training, resources, and support networks to help you succeed in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Secret Clearance position, and why are they important?

To excel in a Remote Secret Clearance position, you need eligibility for a U.S. Secret security clearance, strong analytical skills, and proven reliability in handling sensitive information. Familiarity with secure communication platforms, encrypted systems, and relevant government or defense-related software is often required. Exceptional attention to detail, integrity, and effective remote communication skills will help you stand out. These abilities are vital because the role demands trustworthiness, technical proficiency, and the capacity to work independently while safeguarding confidential data.

What is a Remote Secret Clearance job?

A Remote Secret Clearance job is a position that requires a U.S. government Secret security clearance and allows employees to work remotely or outside of a traditional office setting. These roles are typically found in government agencies, defense contractors, and companies handling sensitive information. While remote, employees must follow strict security protocols to protect classified or sensitive data. Some positions may still require occasional on-site visits to secure facilities.

About Submer

Submer designs and delivers end-to-end AI datacenter infrastructure built around industry-leading liquid cooling.

We help organizations scale AI beyond the limits of traditional datacenters by enabling higher density, greater efficiency and lower environmental impact - accelerating time-to-AI from first deployment to full production.

What impact you will have

As a Field Services Technician, you will be on the front lines of Submer's deployments across the United States. You'll be responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, and supporting Submer systems on-site at datacenters and client facilities. This is a dynamic, travel-heavy role ideal for someone with strong electromechanical skills, customer-facing professionalism, and a drive to solve real-world challenges.

What you'll do

  • Perform on-site installation, commissioning, and testing of Submer's systems.
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for hardware, plumbing, and mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Interface directly with customers, contractors, and project teams to ensure smooth deployments and service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and local site protocols.
  • Document all site activities including installations, interventions, and system updates.
  • Provide remote support or on-site escalation when required.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to report issues and suggest design improvements.
  • Maintain tools, spare parts, and test equipment in good working order.
  • Assist in training clients or partners on proper operation and maintenance procedures.
  • When onsite in our Houston office, support our product engineering, assembly and testing lab activities.

What you'll need

  • 8+ years of experience in field services, datacenter operations, or industrial system installation (e.g., HVAC, mechanical, or electrical systems).
  • Technical training in electromechanical engineering, HVAC, electrical systems, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working in mission-critical environments (datacenters, clean rooms, industrial systems) is a strong plus.
  • Solid understanding of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
  • Solid understanding of PLC coding principles and capable of making basic edits or adjustments (though not experienced in full-scale PLC programming or development)
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Comfortable reading technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Clear, confident communication skills with a customer-first attitude.
  • Ability to work independently in remote, high-pressure environments.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% across the U.S., sometimes internationally.
  • US Secret or Top Secret Clearance is preferred

What we offer

  • Attractive compensation package reflecting your expertise and experience.
  • Medical Insurance Plan.
  • 401k Employee volunteer contribution Plan.
  • A great work environment characterized by friendliness, international diversity, flexibility, and a hybrid-friendly approach.
  • Youll be part of a fast-growing scale-up with a mission to make a positive impact, offering an exciting career evolution.

Our job titles may span more than one job level. The actual base pay is dependent on a number of factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands.

Our inclusive responsibility

Submer is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, veteran status, or any other protected category under applicable law.
