Job description

Job Summary:

Victory EMS and Medical Transportation is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Wildland Fire Paramedics to join our team in supporting wildfire response operations. The Wildland Fire Paramedic provides advanced emergency medical care during wildfire incidents while assigned to active firelines, divisions, or other demanding operational environments. This role requires delivering medical support in remote locations and challenging conditions, and may involve coordinating or assisting with the evacuation of injured or ill personnel.

Daily Pay Range: $700 - $800 per day

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emergency medical care on the Fireline, in the medical unit, or other locations as directed by the Incident Commander.
  • Be proficient in advanced medical procedures such as endotracheal intubation, cricothyrotomy, pleural space decompression, and gastric decompression.
  • Administer medications via various routes including intravenous (IV), intraosseous (IO), intramuscular (IM), intranasal, sublingual, and subcutaneous.
  • Monitor and interpret patient vitals.
  • Lead or participate in the evacuation of sick or injured individuals from remote areas.
  • Direct others on scene in providing care to critically injured or sick patients.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • In-depth understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
  • Competency in all skills of the paramedic, with additional advanced skills.
  • Ability to perform lifesaving procedures with limited equipment available on the Fireline.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Paramedic, with a scope of practice determined by state licensure and medical director or deployment region.
  • Experience in emergency medical services, preferably in a wildland fire setting.
  • Physical fitness to handle the demands of working on an active Fireline.

Working Conditions:

  • Work on active Firelines and in remote areas during wildfire incidents.
  • Potentially extended periods of time as the sole medical provider on scene.
  • Physically demanding and challenging environments.

Contract Opportunity with Growth Potential:

This position is offered on a contract basis for wildfire deployments. However, individuals who demonstrate strong performance and alignment with our mission and core values may have the opportunity to transition into full-time or part-time roles within Victory EMS’s 24/7 emergency medical service operations following the fire season.
