Position: Technical Trainer
Location: 10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA 02116 (Hybrid/Remote if applicable)
Duration: 6 months (with Possibility of extension)
Rate: $60-$61/hour
The MBTA is seeking an L&D Technical Trainer to support the design and development of engaging, effective, and scalable learning solutions. This role will focus heavily on video-based training and multimedia learning experiences, helping to deliver impactful, learner-centered programs aligned with organizational goals.
Detailed List of Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the end-to-end design and development of learning solutions, including video-based training, eLearning, and blended learning approaches.
  • Analyze learning needs and collaborate with subject matter experts to create effective instructional materials aligned with project goals.
  • Design, develop, edit, and produce instructional videos, eLearning modules, curricula, and supporting documentation such as storyboards and scripts.
  • Lead the creation of engaging video-based content, including software demonstrations, scenario-based training, and microlearning modules.
  • Utilize tools such as Camtasia and other screen capture/video editing platforms to create polished, visually engaging content.
  • Translate complex technical or business concepts into concise, learner-friendly training experiences.
  • Ensure all materials align with organizational standards, branding guidelines, accessibility requirements, and templates.
  • Manage multiple instructional design and multimedia projects independently, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Perform quality assurance, editing, and consistency checks on all training deliverables and multimedia content.
  • Develop learning solutions in various formats including instructor-led training, virtual learning, self-paced modules, and video tutorials.
  • Apply problem-solving and critical thinking skills to overcome challenges and maintain project momentum.
  • Ensure learning programs reflect organizational culture, branding, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in instructional design, with a focus on adult learning principles and multimedia training development.
  • Strong experience creating video-based training content, including scripting, storyboarding, recording, and editing.
  • Hands-on experience with eLearning tools such as Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise) and Camtasia.
  • Proven ability to design engaging multimedia content that enhances learner engagement and retention.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong visual storytelling ability.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality, consistent deliverables.
  • Ability to analyze training needs and independently develop solutions from concept through delivery.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in curriculum design, training needs analysis, and end-to-end program delivery.
  • Familiarity with modern learning technologies and emerging trends in instructional design.
  • Experience producing multimedia assets for diverse audiences and learning environments.
  • Background in video production techniques, audio narration, and visual content development.
