What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Script Coverage Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Script Coverage Analyst, you need strong analytical reading skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of screenwriting structure and industry standards, typically supported by a background in film, literature, or creative writing. Familiarity with script formatting software (like Final Draft) and proficiency in using online collaboration tools are often required. Excellent written communication, time management, and the ability to provide constructive feedback are crucial soft skills. These competencies ensure insightful script evaluations, efficient remote collaboration, and valuable input for production decisions.

What is remote script coverage?

Remote script coverage refers to the process where a reader evaluates and summarizes screenplays or scripts from a remote location, rather than working onsite at a studio or agency. These professionals read scripts, write coverage reports that include a summary, analysis, and recommendations about the script’s potential, and deliver their feedback digitally. This job is common in the film, television, and literary industries to help producers, agents, and executives quickly assess the viability of scripts. Remote script coverage allows for flexible work arrangements and can be performed by freelancers or employees working from home.

What are the typical challenges faced by remote script coverage professionals, and how can they be managed effectively?

Remote script coverage professionals often face challenges such as tight deadlines, maintaining focus while working independently, and ensuring consistent, objective feedback. Managing these challenges requires strong time management skills, clear communication with supervisors or clients, and a structured work routine. Building a network with other readers or participating in online forums can also provide valuable support and perspective when evaluating diverse scripts.

About Us:
Zensurance is redefining commercial insurance for Canadian businesses.

As a leading InsurTech, we make getting the right coverage simple, fast, and accessible through a digital-first experience. Our platform combines advanced technology with deep industry expertise to deliver tailored insurance solutions that help businesses thrive.

Zensurance has been recognized for its rapid growth and industry impact:

Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 (2023, 2024, 2025)
Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 (2024, 2025)
Top Insurance Employers (2022)

At Zensurance, we value ownership, collaboration, and innovation. Our team thrives on solving complex challenges, challenging the status quo, and making a real impact in an industry ready for change.

If you're looking to build something meaningful in a fast-growing, customer-focused company, we'd love to hear from you!

We are looking for a Senior Software Developer, Data to join our Data team in the Engineering Department!

The Senior Software Developer, Data is a senior-level individual contributor, reporting to the Team Lead, Data. In this role you will own the systems and infrastructure that the Data team depends on to operate effectively - including warehouse infrastructure, CI/CD automation, developer environments, data quality frameworks, and the data catalog.

Working closely with the Tech Lead and Data Analysts, the Senior Software Developer, Data ensures that data arrives in Snowflake reliably, that infrastructure is managed as code, and that the team can move fast without accumulating operational debt. This role is platform-first: the output is a foundation that makes the rest of the Data team faster, more reliable, and better equipped to build data products that serve the business.

This is a remote-first role within Canada. #LI-Remote

Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain internal tooling for the data team - CLIs, automation scripts, observability dashboards, and developer productivity tools.

  • Contribute to the development and deployment of the team's conversational analytics product - supporting infrastructure, CI/CD, and production readiness.

  • Define and manage Snowflake infrastructure as code via Terraform - including provisioning, access controls, resource monitors, and performance tuning.

  • Extend, maintain, and improve the team's data catalog (OpenMetadata) - ensuring data assets are documented, discoverable, and trusted across the organization.

  • Own data quality infrastructure - build and maintain frameworks for testing, monitoring, and alerting on data freshness, completeness, and correctness.

  • Build and maintain CI/CD workflows for dbt model deployment, schema validation, data quality checks, and automated testing.

  • Establish and maintain reproducible local and development environments so every team member can work effectively without friction.

  • Collaborate with the Tech Lead to design and implement data platform architecture in alignment with the team's technical strategy and the company's security and scalability requirements.

  • Approach all engineering work with a security-first mindset; ensure access patterns, credentials, and audit logging are codified and version-controlled.

  • Perform code reviews, ensure pull requests reflect acceptance criteria, and uphold engineering standards across the team's platform codebase.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • University degree or college diploma in a recognized technical, vocational or academic program (preferably in Engineering or Computer Science) or equivalent work experience.

  • 5+ years in software engineering, with at least 2 years focused on data platforms or data infrastructure.

  • Experience with a cloud data warehouse (e.g. Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).

  • Experience using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform to manage cloud infrastructure.

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (JavaScript/TypeScript preferred; Python also valuable).

  • Experience with data ingestion platforms such as Fivetran or Airbyte.

  • Strong engineering fundamentals - version control discipline, code review, reproducible builds.

  • Experience implementing secure data practices to adhere to compliance standards.

Nice to Have:
  • Experience with Snowflake administration (RBAC, resource monitors, performance tuning).

  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).

  • Experience with data catalog tooling (e.g. OpenMetadata, DataHub, Atlan, or similar).

  • Experience with data observability tooling.

$104,000 - $145,000 a year
The salary range for this role is $104,000 to $145,000, not including the annual discretionary bonus and any additional performance-based incentives.

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees may also be eligible for performance-based case incentive awards.
