Job description

Bennett Thrasher ("BT") is currently seeking a Sales and Use Tax Senior Manager. This role involves leading the Firm's efforts in developing a robust sales and use tax consulting practice.
The Sales and Use Tax Senior Manager will benefit from the support of the Firm's established state and local tax practice, which includes CPAs and attorneys experienced in sales tax compliance, research, and advisory services. We are looking for a candidate with an entrepreneurial mindset, passionate about building their practice and forging a path to partnership within the firm.

You'll tackle challenging projects with a diverse client base and engage in firm activities that align with your personal interests, from our Business Resource Groups to the BT Foundation.
Responsibilities:
  • Managing - and beginning to identify and sell - sales tax consulting projects (e.g., nexus and taxability studies, voluntary disclosure agreements, etc.) including leading client calls and providing regular status updates to clients.
  • Identifying and helping to build out new practice areas as the practice continues to grow.
  • Identifying and assisting in the development of sales tax processes, templates, and resources to further streamline the practice and mitigate risks.
  • Cultivating a team-oriented environment, managing a diverse group of professionals, and ensuring effective delegation of responsibilities.
  • Mentoring and coaching team members to foster professional development and build a pipeline of future leaders within the sales tax practice.

Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of experience in sales tax.
  • In-depth knowledge of sales and use tax concepts and typical studies, including nexus and taxability studies and voluntary disclosure agreements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in managing or collaborating closely with U.S. and India-based staff.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • One of the following accreditations (or pursuing such accreditations):
    • Licensed CPA
    • Licensed attorney
  • Preferred: Advanced degree such as Masters of Taxation or LLM in Taxation.
  • Prior experience in a Big 4 or large CPA firm is advantageous.
