This role allows for greater flexibility, expanding inspection capabilities while still maintaining quality and safety standards. Remote RVIA inspectors may work for manufacturers, dealerships, or as independent contractors.

Job description

Location: Fully Remote / Work-from-Home

Type: Hourly, Full-Time

Position Overview

Camping World is seeking an experienced Service Technician to join our growing team in a fully virtual capacity. We are looking for a diagnostic expert with advanced knowledge of Recreational Vehicle (RV) coach systems to provide high-level technical support from a home-office environment.

In this role, you will act as a critical lifeline for our Good Sam Elite Members, Roadside Assistance customers, and Internal Dealership Technicians. You will leverage your deep mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical expertise to troubleshoot issues remotely, ensuring our members stay on the road and enjoy the RV lifestyle.

Essential Job Functions

  • Virtual Diagnostics & Support: Answer incoming calls and digital inquiries from Elite members to provide real-time troubleshooting for RV accessories and mechanical disablement situations.
  • Technical Instruction: Distribute technical diagrams, manuals, and step-by-step instructions via text or email to guide members through field repairs.
  • Service Coordination: Discern when a repair cannot be completed over the phone and facilitate seamless connections to authorized RV repair facilities or Roadside Assistance.
  • Case Management: Perform proactive customer follow-ups to ensure technical issues are fully resolved and maintain detailed records of all consultations.
  • Internal Mentorship: Assist internal dealership technicians with complex system questions to improve repair efficiency across the network.
  • Continuous Improvement: Perform other miscellaneous duties and provide feedback on recurring technical issues to help improve our support resources.

Essential Job Skills

  • Technical Mastery: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on RV Service Technician experience. Deep knowledge of RVIA standards in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and LP systems is required.
  • Instructional Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex mechanical concepts into easy-to-follow instructions for non-technical users.
  • Remote Proficiency: Strong computer literacy and the ability to navigate CRM software, VoIP phone systems, and digital technical databases simultaneously.
  • Critical Thinking: Highly developed spatial reasoning skills-the ability to "visualize" and diagnose a mechanical issue without being physically present.
  • Organizational Excellence: Self-motivated with strong follow-up skills and the ability to manage a high volume of technical inquiries independently.
  • Education & Certification: High School diploma or equivalent required. RVIA/RVTI Certification is highly preferred; however, Camping World will pay to certify qualified individuals who are not yet certified.

Work-from-Home Requirements

  • A dedicated, quiet professional workspace free from distractions.
  • High-speed, reliable internet connection suitable for high-quality voice and data transmission.
