Business Intelligence / Tableau Developer (Consultant)
Location: Remote (candidates must be local to the Kansas City, Missouri Metro)
Contract: 9 months | 37.5 hrs/week
Target Start: July 22, 2026
The Role
NAIC is modernizing how it delivers reporting. A set of legacy HTML reports maintained by the IT group is moving to business-owned BI solutions built in Tableau and ThoughtSpot, with the underlying data shifting off Oracle and onto NAICs Snowflake-based Enterprise Data Platform. This consultant builds those new solutions end to end partnering with the business, designing the data behind the dashboards, and delivering the visualizations.
What Youll Do
  • Partner with Financial Regulatory Services stakeholders Filing Compliance, Accounting & Reporting QA, and Financial Analysis to scope dashboards, reporting needs, and the right visualizations.
  • Design and build curated data sources in Snowflake alongside data engineers and SMEs, tuned for both BI tools and ad hoc querying.
  • Lead the design, development, and publishing of Tableau, ThoughtSpot, or other BI solutions.
  • Recommend where to consolidate, rework, or re-platform reports as the migration progresses.
Must-Haves
  • BI development depth hands-on expertise in Tableau, ThoughtSpot, or Power BI, including complex dashboard design and data modeling.
  • Full lifecycle ownership youve carried BI work from requirements through transformation, modeling, build, user testing, and publishing.
  • Strong SQL expert-level, across relational and non-relational stores (Oracle, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar).
  • Education or equivalent a degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics/Science, Information Systems, or related field, or 35 years of hands-on data modeling and dashboard design in its place.
  • Analytical rigor comfort untangling complex data problems with a meticulous eye for accuracy.
  • Communication able to work cleanly across cross-functional teams and adapt in a fast-moving environment.

  • Scripting in Python, Java, or R.
  • Cloud exposure AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Financial or insurance data and domain familiarity.
  • Agile experience.
