What is a remote robotics engineer?

A Remote Robotics Engineer designs, develops, and tests robotic systems while working from a remote location. They use simulation tools, software, and cloud-based platforms to build and program robots for various industries, such as manufacturing, healthcare, and automation. Communication and collaboration with teams are typically done through video calls, online project management tools, and remote coding environments. This role requires expertise in robotics software, hardware integration, and control systems, alongside strong problem-solving skills.

What are some typical challenges a remote robotics engineer might face, and how are they addressed?

Remote Robotics Engineers often encounter challenges related to hardware access, coordination with on-site teams, and troubleshooting physical systems from a distance. To address these issues, engineers frequently utilize remote desktop tools, simulation platforms, and detailed documentation to diagnose and resolve problems without being physically present. Regular video meetings, thorough written communication, and close collaboration with on-site personnel help bridge the gap between remote and in-person work. Proactively coordinating schedules for hands-on testing and leveraging cloud-based development environments can also improve project efficiency and outcomes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote robotics engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Robotics Engineer, you need a strong background in robotics engineering, programming (such as Python or C++), and experience with embedded systems, supported by a relevant degree in engineering or computer science. Familiarity with industry tools like ROS (Robot Operating System), simulation software (Gazebo or MATLAB), and version control systems (Git) is commonly required, along with relevant certifications. Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation, effective communication, and the ability to work independently are highly valued in remote settings. These abilities ensure the successful design, testing, and deployment of robotics solutions while collaborating virtually with interdisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead discovery workshops to identify requirements and translate them into solution designs and business cases

Job description

Life at UiPath
The people at UiPath believe in the transformative power of automation to change how the world works. We're committed to creating category-leading enterprise software that unleashes that power.
To make that happen, we need people who are curious, self-propelled, generous, and genuine. People who love being part of a fast-moving, fast-thinking growth company. And people who care-about each other, about UiPath, and about our larger purpose.
Could that be you?
Your mission
UiPath builds AI agents that take on the heavy lifting of financial crime operations so banks and financial institutions can move faster, stay compliant, and scale without adding headcount. As a Senior Sales Engineer, you turn product capability into buying decisions. You partner directly with Account Executives as a co-owner of deal outcomes.
You'll run discovery workshops, design solutions, build and deliver product demonstrations, lead proof-of-value engagements, and own content creation. You'll work across multiple strategic accounts and multiple AEs. The scope is broad because the expectation is high: you move without being asked, figure things out quickly, and connect technical depth to commercial outcomes.
This role also sits at the intersection of Sales and Product. You'll surface field intelligence, influence the roadmap, and help shape how UiPath/WorkFusion goes to market including co-creating demos, contributing to webinars and analyst briefings, and helping build partner enablement programs. This role has real range and real influence for someone who wants both.
What you'll do at UiPath
  • Deal Execution
    • Own the solution side of the sales process across the full cycle, from qualification through close and expansion
    • Build and deliver tailored demos and proof-of-concept engagements that make the value concrete
    • Lead discovery workshops to surface real requirements; translate them into solution designs and WorkFusion business cases
    • Operate across multiple AEs and strategic accounts without losing depth or precision
  • Internal Impact
    • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to design new demos that solve real industry problems and align with our delivery approach
    • Bring field insight back into the organization proactively and consistently
    • Mentor other members of the solutions consulting team; share what you've learned from the field, from product updates, from what worked and what didn't
    • Partner with Marketing on industry events, analyst briefings, and webinars; serve as the voice of the customer on solutions-related materials
  • Ecosystem & Strategy
    • Define and influence go-to-market strategy for strategic partnerships; educate partner sales and solutions teams so they can carry the message independently
    • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory shifts, and competitive dynamics and apply that context directly in deals
    • Maintain deep platform knowledge through direct collaboration with product owners, engineering, and industry consultants
  • A note on AI fluency: UiPath's culture and WorkFusion's within it are deeply AI-native. The people doing their best work here use LLMs to compress research, accelerate demo prep, draft responses faster, prototype solutions, and think through problems in real time as an extension of the team. Candidates already working this way will recognize the leverage immediately.

What you'll bring to the team
  • 5+ years in a pre-sales, consulting, or technical account management role ideally in B2B SaaS
  • Demonstrated fluency with LLMs as working tools
  • Practical understanding of intelligent automation, RPA, machine learning, or adjacent technologies, including the ability to clearly articulate technical architecture
  • Excellent communicator across formats (i.e., discovery conversations, executive presentations, written proposals, and live demos) with the ability to adjust depth and register by audience
  • Proactive by default. You identify what needs to happen and move without waiting for direction.
  • Track record of working effectively across Sales, Product, and Engineering without needing a formal process to hold it together
  • Strong plus: experience selling to or supporting banking and financial services institutions, with familiarity in compliance, screening, KYC or AML workflows
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred.
  • Travel up to 25%
