What is a remote robotics engineer localization?

Remote Robotics Engineer Localization jobs involve developing and implementing algorithms and systems that enable robots to determine their position and orientation within an environment, all while working remotely. These engineers typically work on projects related to autonomous vehicles, drones, or industrial robots, focusing on technologies such as SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), GPS, and sensor fusion. Their responsibilities can include software development, simulation, data analysis, and integration of localization solutions into robotic platforms. The remote aspect allows these professionals to collaborate with teams and deploy code from anywhere, often using virtual environments and remote access to robotic systems.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote robotics engineer localization?

To excel as a Remote Robotics Engineer in Localization, you need a solid background in robotics, computer science, and mathematics, often supported by a relevant degree and experience in localization algorithms. Proficiency with tools like ROS (Robot Operating System), SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) frameworks, and simulation environments such as Gazebo is typically required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and self-management skills are essential for collaborating effectively across distributed teams. These competencies ensure accurate robot navigation, successful project execution, and seamless remote teamwork in this technically demanding field.

How does a remote robotics engineer localization typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate robot navigation?

As a Remote Robotics Engineer focused on localization, you’ll frequently collaborate with software developers, hardware engineers, and data scientists to integrate and refine localization algorithms. Communication often involves regular virtual meetings, code reviews, and collaborative troubleshooting sessions to align system updates and deployment strategies. You’ll also work closely with QA teams to validate performance in diverse environments and may contribute to documentation to facilitate seamless integration across the robotics platform. This cross-functional teamwork is essential to ensure that robots can accurately determine their position and navigate reliably in real-world scenarios.

What is the difference between Remote Robotics Engineer Localization vs Remote Robotics Technician?

AspectRemote Robotics Engineer LocalizationRemote Robotics Technician
CredentialsBachelor's or higher in Robotics, Engineering, or related fields; certifications like ROS or embedded systemsTechnical diploma or associate degree; certifications in robotics or automation
Work EnvironmentDesign, development, and testing of robotic systems remotely; collaboration with engineering teamsMaintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of robotic systems remotely or on-site
Industry UsageUsed in robotics development companies, research labs, and manufacturingCommon in manufacturing plants, automation services, and technical support

Remote Robotics Engineer Localization focuses on designing and developing robotic systems remotely, requiring advanced engineering skills. In contrast, Remote Robotics Technician handles installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, often with more hands-on tasks. Both roles are essential in the robotics industry but differ in responsibilities and required expertise.

Job description

Agility's commercially deployed humanoids operate alongside teams in warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers-tackling physically demanding and repetitive tasks while enabling workers to focus on higher-value work. With industry-leading safety standards and years of proven deployment data, we're pioneering a new era of automation that enhances human potential.
About The Role
We are seeking a UX/UI Designer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating intuitive, visually compelling, and user-friendly digital experiences that support the operation, monitoring, and management of our robotic systems. You will work closely with engineers, product managers, and researchers to translate complex technical workflows into elegant, efficient interfaces.
Robotics experience is helpful but not required-what matters most is your ability to simplify complexity, advocate for the user, and bring a strong design perspective to multidisciplinary collaboration. This is a remote-friendly role with a preference for candidates located near one of our offices for in-person collaboration, meetings, and events.
About The Work
  • Lead the end-to-end design process for robot and web based UI: e.g. create wireframes, prototypes, and final UI assets ready for implementation by our development team
  • Improve the UX/UI of features implemented by our development teams
  • Design industry leading user interfaces and experiences for robot operator tools, dashboards, and mobile/web/VR applications.
  • Develop and maintain design systems and style guides to ensure consistency across platforms.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to align design solutions with technical feasibility and business needs.
  • Assist our HRI/UX Researcher in conducting user research and usability testing, and then iterate based on feedback.
  • Create intuitive visualizations for real-time data, robot status, and system controls.
  • Stay current with UX/UI best practices and emerging design trends.

About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or related field-or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of professional UX/UI design experience.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design across web or software applications.
  • Experience designing complex systems, dashboards, or technical tools for enterprise software.
  • Proficiency with design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
  • Experience with prototyping and usability testing.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Authorization to work in the USA

Bonus Points
  • Familiarity with robotics, IoT, or industrial automation interfaces.
  • Knowledge of front-end development basics (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) for better design-engineering collaboration

This a hybrid position based out of one of our Fremont, CA office.
The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This range may change based on geographical location and may be modified in the future.
Anticipated Salary Range
$128,000-$200,000 USD
In addition to base pay, our competitive total rewards package consists of the following for full-time employees:
  • 401(k) Plan: Includes a 6% company match.
  • Equity: Company stock options.
