Job description

As a Business Analytics Senior Advisor, Clinical & Health Outcomes Research (Medical/Scientific Writing), you will combine scientific expertise, advanced analytics, and strong storytelling skills to turn complex research into insights that improve health outcomes and demonstrate the value of our services. Working with Cigna Healthcare's analytics teams, clinical experts, and business partners, you will lead research initiatives that influence decisions, uncover new opportunities, and support better experiences for patients and providers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead health outcomes and health services research projects from concept through delivery, applying sound research design, statistical methods, and evidence-based approaches.

  • Translate complex clinical and analytical findings into clear, compelling manuscripts, presentations, reports, and other communications tailored to healthcare professionals, policymakers, patients, and business stakeholders.

  • Conduct literature reviews and background research to strengthen study design, support strategic recommendations, and provide context for research findings.

  • Partner with analytics, clinical, and cross-functional teams to answer important healthcare questions and evaluate the clinical and financial impact of products, programs, and services.

  • Analyze large healthcare datasets to generate actionable insights, identify trends, and support enterprise research priorities.

  • Serve as a project lead or key contributor across multiple initiatives, ensuring high-quality deliverables and timely execution.

  • Communicate research findings and recommendations to diverse audiences, helping stakeholders understand complex data and make informed decisions.

  • Contribute to a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and collaboration while adapting to evolving business needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of postgraduate experience conducting applied healthcare research and working with large healthcare datasets.

  • Experience leading research projects and presenting findings to internal and external audiences.

  • Experience working with medical and pharmacy claims data.

  • Peer-reviewed publication or scientific writing experience.

  • Strong knowledge of research methodology, study design, and statistical analysis.

  • Advanced proficiency with statistical programming tools such as SAS, R, STATA, SPSS, Altair SLC, or similar platforms.

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.

  • Experience querying, managing, validating, and analyzing large datasets.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize work, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and across matrixed teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD, MD-PhD, RN-PhD, Master's degree, or equivalent experience in health outcomes research, health services research, health economics, pharmacoeconomics, public health, pharmacy, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in SQL and relational databases.

  • Knowledge of healthcare coding systems such as ICD, CPT, HCPCS, NDC, and SNOMED.

  • Clinical or medical background.

  • Experience in fast-paced, highly collaborative environments.


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 112,800 - 188,000 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
