Job description

Peregrine Energy Solutions is seeking a highly skilled quantitative Market Analytics (Associate/Senior/Lead Associate) professional who possesses expertise in power market dynamics and fundamentals to support the Origination, Development, and Finance teams. This is a full-time position and can be fully remote.


Essential Responsibilities:

Fundamental Market Analysis, Commodity Structuring & Risk Analysis:

  • Directly running and/or building power market forecasting tools used to build revenue expectations for project development with an understanding and application of market structures.
  • Quantitative market analysis and risk analysis focused on product pricing, contractual requirement analysis, risk, and exposure.
  • Programmatic coding, data manipulation, and curation from source all the way through to rendering final conclusions for commercial decisions.
  • Evaluating market wholesale and retail rules to help develop fit-for-purpose products and solutions to address identified customer needs.
  • Following and researching impacts from regulatory changes within multiple markets, both regulated and unregulated.
  • Supporting analysis for pricing and execution of highly structured transactions and structured products creation (e.g. clean firm energy block products), across the spectrum of both financial and physical full-load requirements.
  • Ad Hoc analysis projects related to anything Peregrine may be contemplating with regards to siting, pricing, trading, M&A, etc.
  • Supports regular Market Analytics reporting functions.

Required Skills/Experience

  • 2+ years of market fundamentals, price forecasting, market analytics, and risk analysis with a focus on energy storage and renewables and/or quantitative risk management and hedging experience in the energy industry.
  • Knowledge and experience with US wholesale power market rules in at least 1 of the following ISOs :ERCOT, SPP, MISO, PJM.
  • Basic skills in Data Science specifically Python& SQL or similar programming and machine learning languages, and processes.
  • Understanding and experience in production cost modeling (PLEXOS, Aurora, DAYZER, etc.).
  • Experience in Ascend Analytics products: PowerSIMM & BatterySIMM is a big plus!

Salary: The salary range for this position is $85,000 โ€“ $120,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, technical skills, education, certifications, and alignment with the roleโ€™s responsibilities, as well as internal equity considerations

Bonus: This position may be eligible to receive an annual cash incentive bonus capped at a % of your base salary and on your performance review, and potentially long-term incentive participation.
