Job Title: AI Security Governance & Risk Manager Location-Type: Remote (EST or CST hours required) Start Date: ASAP (late August or early September target) Duration: Contract through end of 2026, likely extending into 2027 Compensation Range: $60-70/hr W2 Benefits: Eligible for Health, Dental, Vision, and 401K Visa Sponsorship: Not eligible for visa sponsorship Job Description: This role supports the client's AI security governance program by developing frameworks, managing risk workstreams, and advising senior leadership on AI risk and controls strategy. Job Summary Develop and maintain AI security governance frameworks and risk assessment ecosystems aligned to industry standards. Coordinate and tie together 10-15 concurrent workstreams through strong program management and strategic oversight. Conduct AI risk and controls assessments against the client's products and services. Partner with executive stakeholders, including VP-level and above, to communicate risk posture and governance progress. Support strategic initiatives across the AI governance program, identifying gaps and opportunities beyond assigned tasks. Apply knowledge of ISO 42001, NIST AI RMF, EU AI Act, and broad GRC principles to drive program maturity. Stand in for the program lead in executive-level meetings and discussions as needed. Minimum Requirements: 7-12 years of broad IT security, risk, and compliance experience in highly regulated industries such as banking or healthcare. Strong hands-on experience in AI security with a focus on governance, risk, controls, process, and strategic thinking. Demonstrated experience building or contributing to AI governance frameworks and AI risk assessment programs. Working knowledge of ISO 42001, NIST AI RMF, and EU AI Act. Strong program management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams simultaneously. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage audiences ranging from analysts to executive leadership. Preferred Qualifications: ISO 42001 certified auditor or equivalent certification. Background that combines large consulting firm experience (e.g., Big 4 or top-tier strategy consulting) with in-house corporate experience. 20 years in risk management with 5 years focused on AI risk, or demonstrated depth equivalent to senior-level tenure. Stable career history with tenure and progression; consistent promotion track record preferred. High emotional intelligence and executive presence with the ability to operate independently after ramp-up.
