Flaherty Sensabaugh Bonasso PLLC is seeking an experienced Lateral Litigation Attorney to join our growing litigation practice. We represent clients in high-stakes, complex litigation throughout West Virginia and beyond. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely for the right candidate while remaining connected to a collaborative team of accomplished litigators across our Charleston, Morgantown, and Wheeling offices. Occasional travel to our Charleston office may be required.

Position Responsibilities
As a Lateral Litigation Attorney, you will independently manage a sophisticated litigation caseload from inception through resolution. Responsibilities include:
  • Managing all phases of litigation, including pre-suit investigations, pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, arbitrations, trials, and appeals as appropriate.
  • Drafting and reviewing complex legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, settlement agreements, and correspondence.
  • Conducting thorough legal research and developing strategic litigation approaches.
  • Representing clients in court proceedings, depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Providing practical legal counsel and regular communication to clients throughout the litigation process.
  • Collaborating with attorneys across multiple practice areas to develop innovative litigation strategies.
  • Contributing to the continued growth of the firm through exceptional client service, business development, and professional networking.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will possess:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the West Virginia State Bar (or the ability to obtain admission promptly).
  • Significant litigation experience with demonstrated success handling complex matters.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Commercial Litigation
    • Insurance Defense
    • Product Liability
    • Medical Malpractice
    • Mass Litigation
    • Other complex civil litigation
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Experience managing all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, and dispositive motion practice.
  • Strong organizational and case management skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys, staff, and clients.
