Responsibilities
  • Independently manage civil litigation matters from initial investigation through resolution
  • Evaluate facts, applicable law, potential exposure, and settlement opportunities
  • Develop litigation strategies tailored to client objectives and case circumstances
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, settlement agreements, and other litigation documents
  • Conduct and defend depositions
  • Prepare clients, experts, and witnesses for testimony
  • Represent clients in California state and federal courts
  • Handle hearings, conferences, motions, trials, and other court appearances
  • Manage written discovery, document production, expert discovery, and related motion practice
  • Represent clients in mediations, settlement conferences, arbitrations, and other proceedings
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research using major legal research platforms
  • Provide clients with case evaluations, risk assessments, strategic recommendations, and regular updates
  • Negotiate settlements while protecting client interests and maintaining professional relationships
  • Collaborate with attorneys and professional staff across the firm
  • Maintain organized case files and meet all court, procedural, and client deadlines

Requirements
  • Juris Doctor degree
  • Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California
  • 3 or more years of civil litigation experience preferred
  • Ability to independently manage litigation through the major stages of a case
  • Experience conducting depositions
  • Experience handling motion practice
  • Experience appearing in California state or federal court
  • Strong legal research and persuasive writing ability
  • Strong case management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines
  • Strong client communication and relationship management skills
  • Proficiency with legal research platforms and case management technology
