Job description

Delivery Engineering Lead - Smart Buildings / BAS / IoT / SaaS
Location: Remote
Pay: $140K - $180K

Are you the person other engineers turn to when projects get complicated? Do you enjoy solving technical problems while building better systems so the same issue never happens twice?

One of our clients is redefining the smart building industry with a cloud platform that connects building automation systems, IoT devices, and AI-driven analytics into one intelligent ecosystem. Their technology is helping some of the world's largest commercial real estate portfolios operate more efficiently, reduce energy consumption, and make smarter decisions through data.

We're looking for a Delivery Engineering Lead to become the technical backbone of their Delivery organization. This is a highly strategic role where you'll mentor engineering leaders, solve complex technical challenges, improve delivery processes, and build the systems that allow engineering teams to scale. If you enjoy combining technical expertise with operational leadership, this is an opportunity to shape how one of the industry's fastest-growing smart building companies delivers projects around the world.

What You Will Do:

  • Become the technical backbone of the engineering department, supporting Engineering Team Leads on the most complex technical challenges.

  • Build scalable engineering processes by creating standards and playbooks that improve consistency across the organization.

  • Create engineering systems that allow teams to deliver projects faster, with fewer risks and higher quality.

  • Lead technical escalations by diagnosing complex engineering issues and determining the best path to resolution.

  • Develop structured workflows and documentation that improve execution and knowledge-sharing across projects.

  • Mentor and develop Engineering Team Leads while raising the technical capabilities of the broader engineering organization.

  • Review project engineering plans early to identify technical risks before they impact delivery.

  • Partner with Product, Delivery, and technical SMEs to improve engineering standards and execution.

  • Drive automation and innovation by identifying opportunities to automate engineering workflows, integrations, and repetitive technical tasks using modern tools and AI.

  • Help shape the future of engineering delivery for one of the industry's most innovative smart building platforms.

What We're Looking For:

  • 7+ years of experience in building automation, smart buildings, technical implementations, systems integration, software deployment, or engineering delivery.

  • Strong technical knowledge of BAS/BMS systems, IoT devices, networking, integrations, or smart building technologies.

  • Leadership experience leading or mentoring engineering teams in complex technical environments.

  • Proven problem-solving ability with a track record of improving processes and creating scalable technical solutions.

  • Strong operational mindset with experience identifying risk, improving workflows, and driving execution.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to engineering, project management, leadership, and customer-facing teams.

  • Experience creating documentation including engineering standards, technical documentation, and operational playbooks.

  • Collaborative leadership style with a passion for coaching and developing technical talent.

Opportunity begins with dialogue. If this sounds like a role you would like to discuss, please send me your qualifications or contact me, Jenne Hays, at 317-593-2360. All inquiries will be treated confidentially.

Not quite the position you're looking for? I specialize in recruiting for building automation, smart buildings, and connected technologies nationwide. Many of the opportunities I work on are never publicly advertised. If you're a controls, IoT, or smart buildings professional, I'd welcome the opportunity to connect and discuss your career goals.
