The opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Claim Manager focused on GL, E&S Casualty and Construction Liability claims. This position will join our Claims team based in our Denver, CO or Plymouth, MN offices on a hybrid schedule or remotely nationwide. This role is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the General Liability Claims team and serves as the Claims leader for the E&S Casualty and construction liability business segments. Accountable for all aspects of claim performance, strategic claim management and claim operations within these areas. Partners with underwriting, brokers, and insureds to support business development and retention efforts, leveraging claims expertise to differentiate Intact's value proposition and contribute to profitable portfolio growth.

The ideal candidate possesses significant experience managing complex construction litigation, including construction defect, construction accident, and high-severity casualty claims, with expertise in construction risk transfer, contractual indemnification, additional insured coverage issues, and multi-party litigation. Responsible for operational and administrative oversight of claim handling teams, potentially across multiple locations, and for directing the handling of complex and high-exposure claims across multiple jurisdictions. Develops feedback and claim reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customer satisfaction and achievement of corporate objectives. Possesses very high reserving authority in the organization and is often the conduit with others on high exposure claims. Additional responsibilites are:

  • Plans and executes strategic planning and achievement of goals for claims, through input in large loss conferencing. May include direct claim handling of
    largest exposures, analysis of claims results, and robust feedback to underwriting. Creates annual operational goals and objectives for claim handling.
  • Supports the business with analysis of claim trends, training on claim developments and coverage, input on form development, marketing support, participation in business management meetings, and support of business initiatives.
  • Ensures overall reserving activity of operation is consistent with corporate policy. Oversees settlement evaluations and grants authority where settlement requests
    exceed staff requests.
  • Assists in the development and manages the operating budget ensuring all financial goals are being met.
  • Responsible for cost containment and expenses related to all claim files within the unique claims operation.
  • Oversees all human resource activities including hiring and firing of all personnel, development, mentoring of management team, etc.
  • Anticipates and meets all customer needs (internal and external).

The expertise you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD required.
  • Construction litigation experience required.
  • 7-10 years of commercial, specialty claims experience or related education/insurance experience.
  • 3-5 years of management experience required.

Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires; however, your recruiter will provide more specific compensation details during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $159,000 - $200,000, based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco, CA; Washington DC; our Massachusetts based offices and the New York City metro area, the base salary range is $173,000 - $204,000. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include but not limited to:
