Mission Assurance SME
The Opportunity:
As a Mission Assurance professional, you understand that protecting critical missions requires more than documenting assets and vulnerabilities. It requires connecting missions, functions, infrastructure, systems, threats, dependencies, and mitigation activities so leaders can understand risk and make informed decisions.
As a Mission Assurance Subject Matter Expert, you'll work alongside Mission Assurance practitioners, data professionals, application developers, and government leaders to design and implement a new capability for storing, managing, analyzing, and sharing Mission Assurance data. You'll help the team understand existing Mission Assurance processes, data standards, assessment methodologies, and workflows currently supported by systems such as the Mission Assurance Risk Management System (MARMS), Enterprise Mission Assurance Analysis Portal (eMAAP), Mission Assurance Decision Support System (MADSS), and Enterprise Protection Risk Management (EPRM).
You'll serve as the bridge between the Mission Assurance community and the technical development team. You'll translate policy, operational requirements, and user needs into data elements, business rules, system requirements, workflows, dashboards, and decision-support products. You'll help determine how the new application should represent missions, task-critical assets, dependencies, threats, hazards, vulnerabilities, risk, assessments, findings, and mitigation activities while preserving traceability to authoritative sources.
Work with us to modernize Mission Assurance data management and deliver a capability that strengthens the resilience of critical DoD missions.
Join us. The world can't wait.
You Have:
  • 5+ years of experience supporting Mission Assurance, Defense Critical Infrastructure, operational risk management, continuity, protection, or vulnerability assessment
  • Experience supporting Mission Assurance Assessments, Joint Mission Assurance Assessments, Defense Critical Infrastructure activities, mission analysis, vulnerability assessments, or mitigation planning
  • Knowledge of DoDD 3020.40, DoDI 3020.45, or Mission Assurance policies, instructions, standards, and assessment processes
  • Knowledge of the DoD Mission Assurance Construct, including Mission Essential Functions, mission decomposition, task-critical asset identification, mission dependencies, threats and hazards, vulnerabilities, risk assessment, and risk-response activities
  • Knowledge of Mission Assurance data or workflows supported by systems and agencies.
  • Ability to facilitate stakeholder interviews, requirements sessions, working groups, demonstrations, and validation activities
  • Ability to develop clear written products, briefings, recommendations, process documentation, and decision-support materials for senior government and military leaders
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience supporting Joint Staff, a Combatant Command, a Military Department, a Defense Agency, or another organization responsible for enterprise Mission Assurance
  • Experience using MARMS, eMAAP, MADSS, EPRM, or Service-specific Mission Assurance and critical-asset management systems
  • Experience supporting Agile software development, including backlog development, user stories, acceptance criteria, sprint reviews, user acceptance testing, and capability demonstrations
  • Experience working with geospatial information systems, infrastructure mapping, network visualization, knowledge graphs, or mission-dependency visualization
  • Experience integrating data from authoritative DoD systems through application programming interfaces, data exchanges, or federated-data architectures
  • Experience translating operational processes, policies, and user needs into functional requirements, business rules, data requirements, process models, or system capabilities
  • Knowledge of CJCSI 3209.01A, Mission Assurance Construct Implementation, and Joint Mission Assurance Assessment processes
  • Knowledge of Defense Critical Infrastructure, Defense Critical Assets, Task Critical Assets, Mission Relevant Terrain in Cyberspace, All Hazards Threat Assessments, or related protection programs
  • Ability to work directly with software developers, data engineers, analysts, cybersecurity professionals, and government stakeholders to explain complex Mission Assurance concepts
  • Master's degree
