Job description

Job Title: Technical Analyst
Company: Celerity
Location: U.S. (Remote/ work from home eligible) Travel as Required
Industry: Utilities Consulting / Digital Transformation / FSM Implementations
Experience Required: 7+ Years
Company Overview: Celerity is a consulting firm specializing in utilities and energy sectors. We empower organizations by converting complex data into actionable intelligence to mitigate risk, optimize assets, and maximize project outcomes. Our background and expertise enable us to drive and deliver transformation and operational excellence for our clients.
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Technical Analyst to support the delivery of a complex Field Service Management (FSM) platform implementation for a utilities client. This role bridges business requirements and technical execution — translating functional needs into technical specifications, supporting solution configuration, and ensuring the platform is implemented correctly, tested thoroughly, and delivered successfully. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical and technical skills, hands-on FSM platform experience, implementation project experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively across a cross-functional delivery team including the Technical Project Manager, Solution Architect, Product Developers, and Product Solution Architects.
Key Responsibilities:
Requirements & Technical Analysis:
  • Analyze and document detailed technical and functional requirements for the FSM platform implementation, working closely with business stakeholders and the Solution Architect.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications, configuration workbooks, user stories, and functional design documents.
  • Conduct gap analysis between out-of-the-box FSM platform capabilities and client-specific business requirements.
  • Support development of solution design documents, data mapping specifications, and integration requirements.
Solution Configuration & Implementation Support:
  • Support configuration of the FSM platform (e.g., scheduling rules, work order types, service territories, mobile workflows, dispatch logic) based on approved designs.
  • Partner with Product Developers and Product Solution Architects to validate that technical builds align with documented requirements and architecture standards.
  • Assist in designing and validating system integrations with adjacent platforms (GIS, OMS, ERP, CRM, IoT/telemetry).
  • Support data migration activities including data mapping, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation.
Testing & Quality Assurance:
  • Develop test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate FSM platform functionality against business requirements.
  • Lead or support System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and regression testing cycles.
  • Log, track, and manage defects through resolution, working with Product Developers to prioritize and validate fixes.
  • Ensure traceability between requirements, configuration/build, and test coverage.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Technical Project Manager to provide status updates, flag risks/issues, and support project planning and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Solution Architect and Product Solution Architects to ensure technical solutions align with overall architecture and scalability requirements.
  • Partner with Product Developers to clarify requirements, review technical builds, and troubleshoot implementation issues.
  • Support business analysts and end users during design workshops, walkthroughs, and training sessions as needed.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
  • Maintain up-to-date technical documentation, configuration guides, and runbooks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support development of training materials and knowledge transfer documentation for client teams.
  • Contribute to lessons-learned sessions and continuous improvement of implementation methodology and reusable assets.
Deployment & Hypercare Support
  • Support cutover planning, deployment activities, and go-live readiness assessments.
  • Provide hypercare support post go-live, triaging and resolving technical issues in collaboration with the delivery team.
Educational Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s) is preferred.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience in a Technical Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar technical delivery role within enterprise software implementations.
  • Hands-on experience implementing or supporting Field Service Management (FSM) or workforce management platforms (e.g., Salesforce Field Service, ServiceMax, IFS Field Service Management, Oracle Field Service Cloud, ClickSoftware).
  • Experience within the utilities industry (electric, gas, water) is strongly preferred, particularly with field operations, mobile workforce, or asset management systems.
  • Proven experience working on full implementation lifecycles: requirements gathering, design, configuration/build, testing, deployment, and hypercare.
  • Experience working in a consulting or systems integrator environment supporting client-facing delivery engagements.
  • Strong technical analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business needs into technical solutions.
  • Solid understanding of system integration concepts (APIs, middleware, data mapping/ETL) relevant to utilities technology ecosystems.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL for data analysis, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Agile and traditional project delivery methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, Waterfall).
  • Experience with requirements management and defect tracking tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, or similar).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and business stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation discipline and testing rigor.
  • Ability to travel to client site (domestic and(or) international) as required and defined per project requirements.
Certifications:
  • Relevant FSM platform certifications (e.g., Salesforce Field Service Consultant/Administrator, ServiceMax certification).
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or similar business/technical analysis certification.
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Agile certification.
  • ITIL Foundation certification (a plus, given field service and incident/change management overlap).
