How much do remote risk analyst jobs pay per hour?
What is a remote risk analyst?
A Remote Risk Analyst is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating financial, operational, or security risks for a company while working remotely. They assess data, monitor trends, and develop strategies to minimize potential threats. This role often involves working with risk management software, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Remote Risk Analysts collaborate with teams virtually using digital communication and reporting tools. They are commonly employed in industries such as finance, insurance, cybersecurity, and consulting.
What are the typical daily responsibilities of a remote risk analyst?
As a Remote Risk Analyst, your typical day involves analyzing data to identify potential risks, preparing risk reports, and providing recommendations to management. You will use digital tools to monitor trends, evaluate risk models, and ensure policies and procedures are being followed. Collaboration with other departments—such as compliance, finance, and operations—is common and often occurs via virtual meetings and shared documents. While the role is independent, frequent communication and teamwork are essential to stay aligned with organizational goals and respond quickly to emerging risks.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the remote risk analyst position, and why are they important?
To thrive as a Remote Risk Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a degree in finance, economics, or a related field. Familiarity with risk assessment tools, data analysis software (such as Excel, SQL, or SAS), and relevant certifications like FRM or CFA are highly beneficial. Proven abilities in communication, problem-solving, and self-motivation are critical for effective remote collaboration and independent work. These skills help identify, analyze, and report on risks, allowing organizations to make informed decisions and maintain compliance in a virtual environment.

Summary
This is an UNPAID internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. DoD SkillBridge Internships are available to help transitioning active-duty military personnel gain real-world experience in the work force sometime during their final 180 days of active-duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII.
Objective
The SkillBridge intern will train as a Program Cost Control Analyst within HII Mission Technologies, working with Program Managers and supporting financial planning, tracking, analysis, and reporting activities. The primary goal is to learn the program financial lifecycle, government contracting financial procedures, cost controls, Earned Value concepts, and cross functional coordination with contracts, accounting, procurement, and subcontracts. The intern will be assigned special projects as needed to develop competence and confidence in real financial-management tasks.
Desired End State (2-month target)
At the end of two months, the intern will be able to:
- Describe core functions of program cost control, financial management, and government contract financial compliance
- Demonstrate a functional understanding of revenue planning, program funding analysis, cost monitoring, manpower tracking, and financial risk/opportunity identification
- Explain how contract modifications impact financials and how to assess those impacts
- Produce basic Estimates at Complete (EACs), variance analyses, and cost reports
- Understand financial-reporting requirements including CDRLs, Ops Reviews, and internal/external reporting
- Coordinate cross-functionally to resolve cost, schedule, and accounting discrepancies
- Read, understand, and apply GAAP, FAR, and corporate procedures in daily financial tasks
- Work within one primary geographic location while supporting remote teams and multiple business functions
- Track cost, schedule, and technical performance in support of program execution
- Provide value through military experience, discipline, and analytical skills
- HII Mission Technologies will benefit from the military and experiential background of the SkillBridge intern and considers the SkillBridge internship an overall positive experience.
Assumptions/Restrictions
- SkillBridge interns are not authorized to represent HII to DoD or Government customers while participating in the DoD SkillBridge Program Internship. Interns can participate and train behind the scenes as long as they are not interacting with customers.
- If candidate is selected and approved, SkillBridge Intern can be present to work with one of the Business Development or Capture teams located at one of the primary HII Office locations nationwide.
