Job description

Overview

This is a remote role open for multiple markets across the United States.

We are looking for a hands-on Lead Software Engineer to join our growing Corporate Credit Card delivery team, which provides technology solutions and integration services in following areas: Corporate Credit Cards, Credit Card Risk Underwriting, Credit Card Portfolio Management, and Merchant Services.

We have a highly engaged team of engineers and are driving a new custom developed platform and implementing automated testing on all newly developed projects.  Come join us as part of this exciting space where you can dig in the details with other developers and the business, as well as have fun sharpening your technical skills and designing solutions for problems that don’t yet have answers. We are looking for people who have a passion for development and leading teams.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned software developer with a history of operating in large enterprise environment who has designed and led implementation of medium to large sized systems. Banking experience is preferred, but not necessary.  This individual would have tangible examples of how they have led development teams to successful deployments, coached and mentored senior developers, and have driven an enterprise level design of a system(s).  They will also be able to clearly communicate and express complex ideas not only with tech leads and team members, but also business product owners, as well as external teams, while establishing a working relationship built on trust through delivery.


Responsibilities

The Lead Software Engineer will be responsible for all software aspects within the domain including research, design, technology insertion, development, testing and support.

  • Partner with the business and architects to design and develop technical solutions that meet user needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Lead multiple tech leads who oversee SCRUM teams within the domain providing coaching, and an escalation path for troubleshooting.
  • Drives domain wide change initiatives improving quality, speed, and throughput of the shop.
  • Oversee proactive maintenance on our existing Iaas/SaaS and on premise applications within the Digital, Cards, Risk, and Merchant Services to ensure our mission critical systems remain stable, are able to scale as our business grows, and remain fit-for-purpose.
  • Coordinate and assist with troubleshooting of code defects, data errors and configuration problems to determine the origin of application error.
  • Know how to support Business critical/ complex applications.
  • Exercises Judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Drive departmental best practices, guidelines implementation and adhere to standards.
  • Show expertise in designing and developing real-time integrations, file-based integrations and be able to optimize the use of database level processing. 
  • Demonstrate empathy with developer and poses an innate desire to create a superlative developer experience down to the last detail.
  • Have a deep love of building elegant, maintainable, well-documented, secure code.
  • Always work to improve oneself and constructively support the team around them.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Intermediate to Strong experience designing or modifying modern microservice based systems
  • Advanced interpersonal skills including communication and negotiation
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Java 11+
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Standard Design Patterns such as Factories, Command, Facade, Adapter, and more.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with OOD/OOA
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Spring and Spring Boot frameworks
