Job Title: DCN Structural Engineer Location: Houston, Texas Type: Direct Hire Compensation: $90,000.00 - $135,000.00 Contractor Work Model: Hybrid – onsite and remote About the Company Our client is a global engineering and technology organization focused on developing innovative infrastructure solutions supporting the future of energy, industrial systems, and hyperscale data centers. Their Data Center Infrastructure team designs and delivers modular, scalable, and cost-effective infrastructure solutions that support the rapid growth of AI and cloud computing. By utilizing standardized designs, advanced manufacturing methods, and offsite fabrication, they help customers accelerate deployment timelines, improve quality, reduce construction risk, and scale critical infrastructure efficiently.

Position Overview We are seeking Structural Engineers to support the design, manufacturing, and deployment of large-scale hyperscale data center infrastructure projects. This role will support structural systems throughout the full project lifecycle, including engineering design, manufacturing, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning. The Structural Engineer will ensure structural systems meet customer requirements, applicable industry standards, and operational performance expectations while supporting technical troubleshooting during manufacturing and field execution. Multiple openings are available across varying experience levels.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review and approve structural drawings, calculations, technical documentation, and engineering deliverables
  • Ensure engineering work complies with customer specifications, applicable codes, project procedures, and industry standards
  • Participate in engineering reviews, planning sessions, and technical discussions
  • Prepare technical requisitions (TRs) for structural systems and related components
  • Review vendor quotations and provide technical recommendations to procurement teams
  • Develop engineering deliverables including:
    • General arrangement drawings
    • Structural calculations
    • Weld details
    • Connection and joint details
    • Structural support documentation
  • Develop material takeoffs (MTOs) and bills of materials (BOMs)
  • Perform structural analysis and design for:
    • Structural steel frames
    • Equipment skids
    • Platforms and walkways
    • Equipment modules
    • Support structures and lifting devices
  • Determine support systems, fastening methods, bolting requirements, and mounting details for major equipment and components
  • Coordinate with drafting and design teams to support project execution
  • Review and validate design loads and structural calculations in accordance with project design criteria
  • Support outsourced engineering work with third-party engineering firms as needed
  • Review as-built drawings and verify calculations to ensure design conformity
  • Provide technical support during manufacturing, construction, and commissioning activities
  • Respond to RFIs and troubleshoot field installation issues
  • Participate in customer meetings, project reviews, site visits, and commissioning activities
  • Identify opportunities for improved reliability, cost reduction, and design optimization
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
  • 5–10+ years of structural engineering or structural design experience
  • Experience supporting data center infrastructure, industrial facilities, modular systems, or mission-critical environments
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Structural steel design
    • Structural analysis
    • Equipment support systems
    • Weld design and detailing
    • Structural framing systems
  • Experience with structural calculations, load analysis, and structural documentation
  • Familiarity with structural engineering standards and codes
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
