Job description

This Platform Architect position serves as a critical bridge between Platform Engineering and application development teams as we build the next generation platform serving Wendy’s suite of applications. The ideal candidate will be T-shaped in skillset: broad across many disciplines, but deep in one or two areas, preferably software engineering and/or cloud infrastructure. We’re looking for a curious, hands-on technologist to lead others in building rock-solid solutions that for our internal partners.

A strong technical understanding of both software engineering and infrastructure-as-code is required. Familiarity with 12-factor microservice design, stateless applications, modern cloud design and tooling, and relational database technologies are highly desired. Candidates should be fluent in a few software languages (Go, Java, Python preferred) and should understand infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform. Finally, experience designing cloud-forward solutions, being part of a cloud platform engineering team, or designing a cloud platform will set candidates apart.


  • Acts as a source of direction, training and guidance for less experienced staff. Mentors engineers, development team, and other IT staff by providing guidance and expertise that drives and supports intelligent innovation and risk taking to improve the agility, quality, scalability, and business value of technologies.
    • Acts as primary technology “go-to” person for techniques, patterns, and practices. Pairs with junior folks to guide technical “how-to’s” to solve technical problems.
  • Operates independently, and with full confidence, to plan and facilitate cross-functional workshops and inceptions. From these workshops, establish business-based reasons for change that mobilizes others to adopt new innovation processes that more effectively and rapidly deliver growth to improve Wendy’s competitive differentiation.

    • Facilitate Workshops, Inceptions, etc; Will help pull out requirements that affect technology decisions with respect to solutions.

  • Develops, recommends, and enhances engineering best practices, such as unit and functional testing, code reviews, CI, design documentation and review, etc.

  • Delivers the appropriate solution architecture by building and developing software and data solutions from a cloud perspective.

Expected Work Location (Remote): It is expected that you will primarily perform work remotely. The target annual bonus for this role is XX% of annualized base salary, based on actual company and personal performance.
