Job Description

A lead technician for an Astro radio system specializes in maintaining and troubleshooting complex radio communication systems in public safety environments, leading junior technicians and possessing expertise in specific LMR (Land Mobile Radio) equipment like repeaters, dispatch consoles, servers, network switches/routers and handheld radios.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be skilled in using advanced test equipment, such as spectrum and service analyzers, to diagnose problems in P25 systems and ensure system coverage and capacity are maximized.

  • Advance knowledge of master sites, remote RF sites, various dispatch site equipment, and subscriber products is a must have. Intermediate knowledge of giant/big voice alerting systems and ACE3600/MCEdge

  • Must have an intermediate knowledge of IT networks using MPLS, STP, MRP, VLAN and VPN's including but not limited to Cisco, Juniper, and Brocade Switches, Routers, and Servers utilizing Windows, Solaris, Redhat, and Linux operating systems.

  • Advance knowledge and the ability to program and repair Motorola's RF product line including Portables, Mobiles, Control Stations, and Repeaters.

  • Experience in building and maintaining Virtual servers utilizing various Software and applications.

Preferred Skills:

  • Good communication skills verbal and written

  • Must have strong interpersonal, and presentation skills

  • Must have strong computer skills

  • Must have experience troubleshooting and repairing radios

  • Must have experience training others and setting them up for success

  • The ability to work on multiple projects at the same time

  • The ability to travel and work long hours as needed.

Target Base Salary Range: $65,900 - $131,800 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

Basic Requirements

Required Skills:

  • High School diploma, GED, Technical Certificate, Associates, or Bachelor's degree required.

  • 5+ years of experience as an Electronics Technician, System Technologist, System Manager, or Field Service Engineer.

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a secret clearance and pass a background check as required by our government customers.
