What is the difference between Remote Rf Filter Design Engineer vs Remote RF Circuit Design Engineer?

AspectRemote Rf Filter Design EngineerRemote RF Circuit Design Engineer
Primary FocusDesigning RF filters to select or reject specific frequency bandsDesigning RF circuits including amplifiers, mixers, and oscillators
Skills & CertificationsRF filter theory, simulation tools, RF component knowledgeRF circuit design, PCB layout, RF simulation tools
Work EnvironmentElectronics or telecommunications companies, remote teamsWireless device manufacturers, remote engineering teams

The main difference is that Remote Rf Filter Design Engineers specialize in creating RF filters for signal processing, while Remote RF Circuit Design Engineers work on broader RF circuit components. Both roles require RF design expertise and often overlap, but their focus areas differ within the RF engineering field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote RF filter design engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote RF Filter Design Engineer, you need a solid background in electrical engineering, signal processing, and RF circuit design, typically supported by a relevant degree and experience in designing RF/microwave filters. Proficiency with design and simulation tools such as ADS, HFSS, CST, or Microwave Office, along with familiarity with PCB layout software, is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective remote communication are crucial soft skills for collaborating with distributed teams and managing complex projects. These skills and qualities ensure precise, efficient filter designs that meet performance specifications and enable seamless teamwork in a remote environment.

What are some common challenges faced by remote RF filter design engineers, and how can they effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams?

Remote RF Filter Design Engineers often face challenges related to clear communication and coordination with hardware, PCB layout, and manufacturing teams who may be located in different time zones. To overcome these, it's important to leverage collaboration tools, maintain thorough documentation, and schedule regular virtual meetings to review design specifications, test results, and project milestones. Building strong relationships with team members and proactively addressing technical concerns can help ensure that filter designs meet both performance requirements and manufacturing constraints.

What is a remote RF filter design engineer?

A Remote RF Filter Design Engineer is a professional who specializes in designing radio frequency (RF) filters used in electronic communication devices, such as smartphones, radios, and wireless systems. They work remotely, using specialized software and tools to create, simulate, and optimize RF filter circuits that block unwanted frequencies and allow desired signals to pass. The role requires a strong background in electrical engineering, RF principles, and experience with simulation tools. Remote RF Filter Design Engineers often collaborate with teams online and may work for companies in telecommunications, defense, or consumer electronics industries.

The Role

Cority is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join one of our product engineering teams. This is a fully remote role open to candidates in the United States and Canada.

Our engineering organization is a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly collaborative environment. We are looking for a passionate team player committed to the success of the collective group. The successful candidate will leverage strong technical skills to deliver immediate value while contributing to our long-term platform direction. The scope and ownership of this role will reflect your experience --we have meaningful work at a range of seniority, and we calibrate during the interview process.

Reporting to a Development Manager, the Senior Software Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and enhancing Cority's software platform across one or more product streams, working closely with Product Owners and fellow engineers to deliver high-quality solutions.

What You Will Do:
  • Serve as a reliable technical expert in one or more areas of the codebase, making well-reasoned design decisions with appropriate trade-offs
  • Own features and projects from requirements through technical design to production delivery
  • Scope work into milestones with reasonable estimates and communicate early when timelines are at risk
  • Debug complex issues across system boundaries and design for observability --logging, metrics, and alerting
  • Proactively identify and address issues in the codebase or process, not just the work assigned to you
  • Contribute to technical direction within your team and advocate for quality from the user's perspective
  • Perform thorough, constructive code reviews and mentor engineers earlier in their careers
  • Document your work and decisions so others can build on them
  • Support Product Owners with domain expertise and help translate requirements into technical designs
  • Handle ambiguity -- make progress when requirements are incomplete or evolving
  • Design and deliver work that spans multiple system components, unblocking teammates and identifying risks to the broader team's delivery
  • Shape technical standards, drive improvements to code quality and tooling, and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
What You Bring:
Core Qualifications
  • University degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience, with increasing ownership of complex work over time
  • Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with remote, distributed teams
Technical -- Must Have
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor
  • Proficiency with .NET Core, .NET Framework, Entity Framework/ Dapper, Web APis, and Microservices
  • Experience building database applications with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and SQL Server
  • Experience with Node.js, Angular or React, HTMLS, CSS, Typescript, JavaScript, and Python
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD practices and pipelines
Technical -- Nice to Have
  • Experience with LLMs, agentic frameworks, RAG, vector databases, or MCP servers
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
  • Experience with AWS or Azure cloud platforms
  • Experience designing or working within multi-tenant architectures
  • Experience with message queues such as SQS, RabbitMQ, or Kafka
  • Experience with Docker and containerized deployments
Soft Skills
  • Genuine passion for technology and an ability to stay current with a rapidly evolving landscape
  • A self-starter who challenges the status quo, asks "why" and "what if', and drives improvements without being asked
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills -- you thrive on sharing and gaining knowledge
  • Previous experience in occupational health, environment, safety, or sustainability is an asset
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

  • An opportunity to work in a values-driven, performance oriented, dynamic and growth focused culture
  • We support a remote working environment with a one-time home office allowance and subsidized monthly internet allowance
  • Competitive health benefits, dental plans, and retirement savings plan (RRSP, 401K plan etc.)
  • Annual fitness allowance
  • Mental health support provided through access to Calm Premium meditation app and access to Talkspace
  • Access to learning tools & platforms, internal training programs, annual training allowance and certifications (if applicable), and High Talent Programs
