Key Responsibilities

• Conducting virtual therapy sessions with clients from diverse backgrounds, helping them navigate various mental health challenges.
• Implementing evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to address symptoms effectively.
• Creating and regularly adjusting individualized treatment plans to align with client progress and emerging needs.
• Facilitating the development of coping strategies tailored to clients’ specific circumstances and promoting self-efficacy.
• Maintaining clear and comprehensive records of client interactions and progress within a user-friendly digital documentation system to ensure continuity of care and compliance with organizational standards.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The clientele at First Responder Mental Health Clinic includes active and retired first responders, such as police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel, along with their families. These individuals often confront trauma, stress, and other mental health challenges that require sensitive, empathetic, and informed therapeutic approaches. As a therapist, your role will be pivotal in providing emotional support and practical strategies tailored specifically to their unique experiences.

Qualifications

• An active and valid license in the State of California as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• A minimum of two years of clinical experience, ideally within mental health settings appropriate for serving first responders.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, evidenced by the ability to maintain an efficient workflow in a fully remote setup.
• Proficiency in digital platforms for documentation and telehealth delivery, ensuring effective client interaction and record-keeping.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with trauma-affected individuals, particularly in high-stress professions related to public safety.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles and crisis intervention strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to build rapport with clients and manage multiple cases effectively.
