Job description

  • Oracle Symphony Solution Architect - POS

  • Remote  

Role Overview: 

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Symphony Solution Architect to support large-scale Point of Sale (POS) and backend retail/food & beverage systems across global theme park operations. This role will focus on Oracle Symphony architecture and platform ownership, working alongside an existing architect responsible for Oracle Integration. 

The architect will play a critical role in designing, stabilizing, and scaling Symphony implementations across multiple global locations, including ongoing and upcoming rollouts. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Solution Architecture & Design 

  • Design and document high-level and detailed solution architectures, including:  

    • Component diagrams, conceptual domain models, and logical information models 

    • Service sequence diagrams, activity diagrams, and deployment diagrams 

    • Data mappings and OpenAPI / Swagger specifications 

  • Own Oracle Symphony architecture covering menus, SKUs, pricing, promotions, and backend configurations 

  • Define architecture patterns for POS, mobile, and enterprise integrations 

Integration & Platform Strategy 

  • Develop integration strategies for applications and platforms with a strong focus on security, performance, scalability, and resiliency 

  • Lead microservices and API-based integrations, including integration of microservices into mobile applications 

  • Collaborate with architects responsible for Oracle Integration Cloud and other middleware platforms 

  • Drive adoption of best practices for microservices, API design, and cloud-native architectures 

Technical Leadership & Governance 

  • Provide technical leadership and hands-on guidance throughout implementation and transition phases 

  • Act as a technical advisor for architecture, delivery, and operations teams 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and governance 

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of global systems and support multi-location deployments 

  • Perform architecture reviews, design validations, and roadmap planning 

Required Qualifications: 

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field 

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering and/or solution architecture roles 

Domain & Platform Expertise 

  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Symphony or Oracle Retail / Hospitality platforms 

  • Deep understanding of POS systems, preferably in hospitality, food & beverage, or retail environments 

  • Experience designing solutions for large-scale, multi-location, global deployments 

Technical Expertise 

  • Proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks 

  • Strong experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration 

  • Expertise in REST API design, microservices architecture, and messaging queues 

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) 

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevOps practices 

  • Experience creating architecture diagrams and documentation using PlantUML 

Skills 

  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation, diagrams, and specifications 

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills 

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities 

  • Ability to work independently in a remote, EST-aligned environment 

  • Must be authorized to work in the US (visa sponsorship available) 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Oracle Retail and broader Oracle ecosystem tools 

  • Knowledge of OpenAPI/Swagger, Terraform, and Ansible 

  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and governance models 

  • Prior experience with mobile application integrations 

  • Exposure to global rollout programs and phased implementations
