The Diverse Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team on a full-time remote basis. In this pivotal role, you will provide professional mental health support to a diverse clientele, conducting assessments, formulating treatment strategies, and facilitating both individual and group therapy. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough preliminary interviews to gather comprehensive client histories, documenting cases from the initial consultation through to discharge.
  • Evaluate clients' mental, emotional, and behavioral health, utilizing standardized assessment tools and clinical interviews.
  • Develop tailored treatment and intervention plans for individuals, couples, families, and groups that address specific needs and goals.
  • Facilitate engaging and impactful individual and group therapy sessions, using evidence-based therapeutic modalities to enhance client engagement.
  • Monitor clients' progress throughout treatment and adjust recovery plans as necessary, ensuring adaptive and relevant care.
  • Collaborate with other mental health specialists, physicians, nurses, and social workers to create comprehensive intervention plans that support client recovery.
  • Maintain follow-up communication with psychiatrists and attending physicians for clients receiving inpatient care, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Proactively identify and address potential obstacles to recovery to promote effective coping strategies.
  • Provide education and support to family members and primary caregivers on managing mental health challenges effectively.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work with a diverse array of clients, ranging from children to adults, each facing unique challenges related to mental health, emotional well-being, and behavioral disorders. Our patient population includes individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and relationship issues. Your ability to adapt interventions to meet varying cultural and individual needs is crucial in promoting effective healing.

Qualifications
  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in the state of New York.
  • Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
  • Proven experience as a mental health counselor, demonstrating effective clinical skills.
  • Experience in utilizing electronic health record systems, preferably AVATAR, to document and track patient progress.
Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with common underlying physical and emotional health conditions, along with experience handling addiction disorders.
  • Knowledge of best practices as outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
