Job description

Transmission Line Engineer (5-10+ Years Experience | Remote)
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Transmission Line Engineer to support the design and execution of high-voltage transmission line projects. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation, experience in utility or consulting environments, and the ability to contribute across multiple project phases. You'll work on a range of transmission projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a fully remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the design of overhead transmission lines (typically 69kV-500kV)
  • Perform routing, structure spotting, and design calculations (sag & tension, loading, clearance, etc.)
  • Develop engineering deliverables including plan & profile drawings, structure loading trees, and material specifications
  • Coordinate with internal teams (substation, civil, environmental) and external stakeholders
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (NESC, ASCE, client-specific requirements)
  • Support project management efforts including scope, schedule, and budget adherence
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers
  • Interface with clients and support proposal development as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
  • 5-10+ years of experience in transmission line engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (or ability to obtain)
  • Proficiency with industry software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and/or Tower
  • Strong understanding of transmission line design principles, standards, and best practices
  • Experience working with utilities, EPC firms, or engineering consulting organizations
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote team environment
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with high-voltage projects (138kV and above)
  • Familiarity with foundation design, geotechnical coordination, and construction support
  • Exposure to renewable energy interconnections or large-scale infrastructure projects
