Work Environment

As a fully remote role, you will have the flexibility to work from home while utilizing state-of-the-art telecommunication tools to connect with clients. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly residents, identifying their specific psychological needs and challenges.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, targeting emotional issues related to aging, such as grief, anxiety, and depression.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop tailored treatment plans that address the multifaceted needs of geriatric clients.
  • Educate family members and staff on promoting mental wellness strategies, thereby enhancing the overall quality of life for older adults.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions and cognitive stimulation programs that stimulate mental engagement and emotional resilience among elderly patients.
  • Provide grief and loss counseling to residents and their families during end-of-life transitions, fostering a supportive environment.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will engage directly with a varied patient population consisting primarily of elderly individuals facing mental health challenges that arise with aging. Each client presents unique concerns, from dealing with chronic illness and grief to major life transitions like retirement or relocations into assisted living facilities. It is crucial to approach them with empathy and a culturally sensitive mindset, adapting your techniques to their diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
  • Possession of a valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification.
  • A minimum of four years of experience providing mental health support, particularly to geriatric clients.
  • Specialized training in geriatric mental health or aging-related issues is highly beneficial.
  • Demonstrable experience with evidence-based interventions that promote emotional well-being in elderly patients.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to establish rapport with seniors.
  • A genuine empathy for and understanding of issues that affect older adults from varied cultural backgrounds.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in delivering services via telehealth platforms is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits
