About the Role:
At Vantage, The Senior Data Analyst supports all data analysis work associated with our insurance systems development including conversion analysis, data preparation for conversion, reference tables and analysis for feeding downstream systems such as our EDW, Oracle General Ledger and Ceded Reinsurance.
Responsibilities include supporting data and reporting architecture; RDM/MDM, data warehouse, data lakes, data marts; business intelligence & reporting tools; modeling tools; actuarial tools (pricing, reserving); exposure management tools; works closely with business functions, operations and application leads for requirements; new solution delivery & production operations.
Additional responsibilities will include actively managing inventory of pending development activities. The Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for maintaining a groomed backlog of user stories documenting the business case and representing the voice of the customer. This individual must ensure developers have a clear understanding of what needs to be completed and will participate in validation of the developers' work and obtaining business sign off.
The Senior Data Analyst will work closely with VP of Insurance Enterprise Data to set priorities across all functional areas of the business. Will also work closely with the Technical Data Manager to manage the release process and communication to the business users as changes are deployed into production environment.
The base salary for this position will range between $130,000 to $165,000 depending on level of experience. Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Supports the VP, Insurance Enterprise Data to ensure effective and timely development of new and/or enhanced systems/technologies.
  • Provides deep technical and business analysis of data such that developers can effectively create solutions that assist leaders with data-driven decision making.
  • Creates Source to Target mappings with support of functional business representatives.
  • Owns the process of user and technical story writing for all work to be delivered.
  • Maintain groomed backlog, ensuring each story contains a clear concise description, acceptance criteria, is pointed by developers, and is clear about the business deadline.
  • Owns the process of obtaining business sign off on all stories being deployed as well as ensuring code is release to production on a timely basis. Will require close consult with developers to ensure proper evidence is provided.
  • Completes business analysis activities and supports the development team in the understanding of the analysis.
  • Provides support in the build out of quality assurance of projects for assigned systems/technologies through vendors, system integrators and internal development teams.
  • Designs test cases and testing scenarios working with QA engineers.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5-7 years of related data analytics/data platform experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Property and Casualty Insurance, including policy life cycle, policy structure, along with core data elements typically captured.
  • Basic SQL skills, and ability to read/understand ETL code and logic.
  • Experience with various data architectures (ODS, Data Lake, Data Marts, etc.).
  • Experience working with financial data, in particular feeding General Ledger and financial results reported externally.
  • Strong communication skills. Must be comfortable speaking with and presenting to developers and business leaders with respect to data solutions and challenges.
  • Sharp analytical skills - ability to triage data issues and recommend corrective action.
  • Ability to multi-task/focus on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Keen understanding of data transformations using Reference/Master data.
  • Understanding of software development techniques, processes, methods, and best practices. Proficiency with various programming languages used.
  • Exposure to cloud implementations using structured, semi-structured and unstructured data methods.
  • Knowledge of application deployment & test automation products, processes, and best practices to ensure full source to target reconciliation.
  • Good understanding of Agile development methods and their application to company technology needs.
