Job Description Summary

The Associate Director of Regional Payer and Operations will work collaboratively with the Director, Regional Accounts and Strategic Operations, National Account Directors, Brand Teams, Market Access and Account Strategy to achieve business goals by gaining profitable and favorable formulary access in all relevant segments for the entire Sandoz US portfolio. This position will be responsible for strategic account development, integrating deeper and broader with specified accounts to gather competitive intelligence and customer insights to better position Sandoz brands for preferred payer access. The AD, Regional Accounts and Operations will work to develop value proposition and strategies, lead the execution and pull through with targeted Regional Accounts. In addition, the AD, Regional Accounts will serve as internal brand lead to the payer team for select biosimilar products. This will include responsibility for providing the payer team with key product updates and supportive materials as well as support of external teams with product specific needs involving the payer team.

  • Responsible for executing brand strategies via targeted pull-through and/or direct contracting with specified Regional Accounts.
  • Develop and implement strategic and tactical business plans to create access and pull-through opportunities for Sandoz products in a variety of therapeutic areas for both the Pharmacy and Medical benefit.
  • Demonstrated success working with State Medicaid Agencies and FFS Medicaid RFPs nationally (both direct/indirect) with individual states, as well as consortiums with a dotted line to State Medicaid National Account Director.
  • Works closely with National Account Director to pull through brand strategies with downstream and National affiliate participants
  • Builds and maintains strong internal and external relationships; connects key stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial solutions; develops and implements different approaches based on customer styles
  • Conducts periodic business reviews with accounts to explain performance of all contractual agreements with the goal of optimizing access
  • Collaborate with Sales Management, National Account teams and internal teams to facilitate pull-through efforts and maintain profitable sales of Sandoz brands.
  • Continuously expand Sandoz business opportunities by prospecting, evaluating, and developing customer partnerships for Company within assigned accounts.
  • Provide routine account updates and presentations to Strategic Market Access and Account Strategy teams, Regional Account counterparts, Sales Management, and Patient Services/HUB teams
  • Laise with brand and marketing to deliver crucial updates to payer team as internal "brand lead" for assigned in-line biosimilar products both on an ongoing basis and as ad hoc, pre-conference/meeting messaging refreshes
  • Maintenance of brand specific payer team materials including but not limited to product access tracking, FAQs, talking points and competitor grids
  • Ensures launch readiness for designated brands via collaborative development of launch materials (Value propositions, value modeling, email templates, etc.) that support payer team's pre and post launch activities
  • Collaborate with I&A, brand, and field to ensure accurate capture and dissemination of payer coverage for forecasting, field material development, target attainment tracking, and field reference materials.
What you'll bring to the role: Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Payer experience preferred and/or 4+ years of biosimilar and/or pharmaceutical experience
  • Experience in pharmaceutical contracting and negotiations with a documented history of success
  • Understanding of contract operations and government price reporting
  • Critical understanding of PBM, National Health Plan business, Specialty Pharmacy, and changing market landscape
  • Ideally has an understanding of State Medicaid bid cycles and RFPs
  • Ability to turn understanding into powerful external market strategies
  • Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex customers and build relationships across all key stakeholders, including executive management
  • Travel as required

Starting salary is typically positioned at the lower end of the range for those new to level and / or with less functional depth. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. Consideration is also taken to ensure that internal equity is maintained. The total compensation package for this position includes restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to health insurance (medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision); life, accident and disability insurance; 401(k) contributions; tuition reimbursement; adoption and surrogacy reimbursement; and fitness program reimbursement.
