What is a remote recruiter?

A Remote Recruiter is a professional who manages the recruitment and hiring process for organizations entirely from a remote location, often working from home or another non-office setting. Their responsibilities include sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, coordinating with hiring managers, and guiding applicants through the hiring process—all using digital communication tools. Remote Recruiters typically use video calls, emails, and online platforms to connect with candidates and employers, making them essential for companies with distributed or global teams.

What does a remote recruiter do?

A remote recruiter finds qualified candidates to fill job openings for their clients. Unlike recruiters that work in the office, remote recruiters often work from home. Your responsibilities include meeting with clients to discuss their hiring needs and obtain a list of qualifications and duties for the role. You search job boards, social media networks, and other relevant sites to identify job seekers that meet the criteria preferred by your client. Most remote recruiters perform an initial screening with the candidate on the phone and then may meet in person before forwarding the job seeker's information on to the hiring supervisor at the company. Remote recruiters are usually paid a commission if their client hires the candidate they found.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote recruiter?

To thrive as a Remote Recruiter, you need a solid understanding of talent acquisition strategies, candidate sourcing, and interview techniques, typically supported by experience in HR or recruiting. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), recruiting platforms like LinkedIn, and video interviewing tools is essential. Strong communication, organization, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for building relationships and managing processes independently. These skills enable recruiters to efficiently source top talent and ensure a smooth hiring process in a virtual environment.

What are some common challenges faced by remote recruiters, and how can they be addressed?

Remote recruiters often face challenges such as building rapport with candidates virtually, coordinating across different time zones, and maintaining clear communication with hiring managers. To address these challenges, leveraging video conferencing tools for more personal interactions, using scheduling apps to accommodate time differences, and establishing regular check-ins with the hiring team are effective strategies. Additionally, utilizing collaborative software for tracking candidates and sharing feedback can help ensure a smooth, transparent recruitment process.

Job description

Earning Potential
  • First-year earnings on plan: $80,000–$100,000
  • Top producer earns well over $200,000 annually
  • Commission-based with uncapped earning potential

About Nanny Poppins Agency
Nanny Poppins Agency is a nationwide domestic and household staffing agency established in 1995. We place newborn care specialists, nannies, special needs nannies, personal and executive assistants, butlers, private chefs, chiefs of staff, and estate and property managers with affluent families and high-net-worth households across the country.

The Opportunity
This is a full-time, commission-based independent contractor role for someone who knows the private-service world from the inside. If you've spent years working in high-net-worth households — as a nanny, newborn care specialist, personal or executive assistant, household manager, or estate professional — you already understand what these families expect and what makes a placement work. This role lets you put that knowledge to use without starting from scratch. Experienced recruiters and sales professionals from the domestic staffing industry are also encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate is politely assertive — able to act almost as a concierge — while confidently maintaining our process without losing control of the search.

Why This Is Different From Going Independent

  • You don't have to find clients. Established since 1995, our clients come to us, and we have an abundance of active job orders waiting to be filled.
  • You don't have to cold call for candidates. Our database holds hundreds of thousands of candidates, with more applying daily.
  • You get the structure of an established agency with the independence of contract work. We provide the leads, systems, training, and daily team support; you bring your experience and drive.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to inbound client and candidate leads.
  • Guide clients through registration and placement.
  • Source, screen, interview, and present qualified candidates.
  • Coordinate interviews, feedback, offers, and placement terms.
  • Manage multiple job orders, clients, and candidates in our CRM.
  • Make a minimum of 100 candidate calls per week and collaborate daily with the team in our virtual office.

Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following: private household or estate management; executive or personal assistance; professional childcare in affluent households; domestic staffing, luxury hospitality, or family office support; or recruiting, staffing, and sales.

We're also looking for:

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Discretion, urgency, and a high-touch service mindset.
  • Organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Comfort in a commission-based environment.
  • Some college preferred; tech-savvy and able to learn recruiting platforms.

Work Environment
Fully remote (work from home, anywhere in the U.S.). Requires a professional home workspace, computer, phone, and reliable high-speed internet. A monthly software access fee applies.

Training and Support
We provide comprehensive in-house training on domestic staffing, high-net-worth client management, recruiting, screening, and placements — plus inbound leads, active job orders, and daily team support.
