Professionals in this field use digital tools, virtual meetings, and project management software to coordinate with teams, stakeholders, and contractors. This approach allows developers to handle multiple properties in different locations efficiently and can reduce travel costs and time. Remote real estate development has become increasingly popular due to advancements in technology and the shift towards flexible work arrangements.

How does a remote real estate development role typically collaborate with on-site teams and stakeholders?

In a remote real estate development position, effective collaboration with on-site teams and stakeholders is achieved through regular virtual meetings, project management platforms, and clear communication channels. Remote developers often coordinate with architects, contractors, and local government officials to ensure that projects stay on schedule and meet regulatory requirements. Utilizing digital tools for documentation, progress tracking, and virtual site visits is common practice, allowing remote professionals to stay engaged and responsive to project needs. Establishing strong relationships and maintaining consistent updates are key to overcoming the challenges of physical distance.

Director of Business Development, Multifamily

PeakMade Real Estate

Chicago, IL โ€ข Remote

Full-time

Posted 28 days ago

Job description

The Director of Business Development, Multifamily is a highly proactive business development professional responsible for creating new relationships and generating new third-party multifamily management opportunities for PeakMade Real Estate. This is a true hunter role focused on prospecting, opening doors, and converting owners, developers, investors, lenders, and capital partners into PeakMade clients.
Success in this position comes from creating opportunities-not inheriting them.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating opportunities where none previously existed. The successful candidate is energized by prospecting, making introductions, uncovering ownership changes, and building relationships with decision makers. They are naturally curious, resourceful, persistent, and do not wait for opportunities to come to them.

Key Responsibilities:

Prospecting & Business Development

  • Build new relationships with multifamily owners, developers, investors, lenders and capital partners.
  • Consistently generate qualified meetings through proactive outreach.
  • Develop opportunities through cold outreach, referrals, networking, market research and strategic introductions.
  • Maintain an active pipeline from first contact through contract execution.
  • Demonstrate urgency and initiative by independently identifying opportunities and taking action without waiting for direction.
  • Partner with executive leadership to execute PeakMade's long-term growth strategy.

Client Relationships & Industry Presence

  • Build trusted relationships that result in new business opportunities.
  • Represent PeakMade as a best-in-class multifamily operating partner.
  • Leverage conferences, industry organizations and networking events to create new business opportunities before, during and after each event.
  • Stay current on market trends, ownership changes and the competitive landscape.

Proposals & Contracts

  • Coordinate proposal and RFP responses with internal teams.
  • Present PeakMade's capabilities to prospective clients.
  • Participate in management agreement negotiations.

Internal Collaboration

  • Coordinate with operations, marketing and executive leadership to position PeakMade for success during pursuits.
  • Lead client strategy throughout the sales process.
  • Participate in property due diligence, site visits and consulting assignments supporting new business pursuits.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Consistent creation and closing of new multifamily management opportunities.
  • A proactive and continuously growing pipeline of qualified prospects.
  • Trusted relationships with owners, investors and capital partners.
  • Increased visibility of PeakMade as a preferred third-party multifamily management company.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of successful business development experience within third-party multifamily property management, multifamily ownership, investment sales, development or a closely related commercial real estate field.
  • Demonstrated ability to create opportunities through proactive prospecting and relationship development rather than relying primarily on inbound leads.
  • Comfortable making cold calls, initiating conversations with senior executives and building relationships from the ground up.
  • Experience leading proposals, RFPs and client presentations.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency, ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to travel frequently and represent PeakMade professionally.
  • Position is remote with preference for candidates in the Midwest or Eastern United States.

Why This Role at PeakMade:

  • Direct influence on the company's growth strategy.
  • Significant exposure to executive leadership.
  • Opportunity to help shape and expand a growing third-party multifamily management platform.
  • Performance-driven environment with meaningful long-term career growth.
