Job description

Who We Are:

Fredrikson & Byron is the premier Midwest-based law firm working collaboratively to help businesses achieve their goals regionally, nationally, and globally.

Overview:

We are seeking an Attorney to join our dynamic Energy Department with flexibility to work out of our Bismarck, Fargo, Des Moines, Madison, or Minneapolis offices, specializing in examination of title to real property. In this role you will work on a diverse range of oil and gas and renewable energy projects, with a focus on oil and gas title examination. You will be responsible for examining title records, determining ownership to surface, mineral, and leasehold interests in numerous tracts of land, researching and analyzing unique title issues, and drafting complex title opinions. Our firm's practice represents a broad spectrum of clients, including oil and gas operators, renewable energy developers, independent power producers, independent transmission companies, traditional utilities, and more. Candidates with oil and gas and/or real estate experience are encouraged to apply, and specific experience with oil and gas title examination is a plus. While our ideal candidate would have 3-8 years of experience and a creditable/billable hours expectation between 1,600 - 1,775 hours, we are open to considering candidates with more experience and/or lower hours expectations.

Our Ideal Candidates Will Have:
* 3-8+ years of experience of related legal experience
* Background in one or more of the following areas: title examination; oil and gas transactions, particularly involving lease, easement, or purchase agreement drafting, and title and survey review; real estate transactions, particularly involving lease, easement or purchase agreement drafting, and title and survey review
* Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills
* Strong academic background
* J.D. from an ABA-Accredited Law School
* Licensed to practice in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, or Wisconsin (depending upon location) and ability to obtain a license to practice in North Dakota

Our Benefits:

Our comprehensive benefits options include medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, short-and long-term disability, employee resource benefits (inclusive of counseling, coaching, and care-giving guidance), paid-parental leave, parenting classes, pre-tax parking and transportation options, and much more! Our retirement plan includes financial planning, Social Security/Medicare planning, 401k/Roth investment options, and a firm-paid profit-sharing contribution. Benefits are subject to eligibility requirements and other terms and conditions.

Salary will depend on hours and experience, but the estimated starting annual pay range is $103,000 - $155,000 per year with a creditable/billable hours expectation between 1,600 - 1,775 hours. The compensation offered will be dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, education, professional background, and overall qualifications.

Applications will only be accepted online at www.fredlaw.com/careers, and applicants will be asked to submit a cover letter, resume, and legal transcript. For assistance with the application process, or for accommodations, please contact lawrecruiting@fredlaw.com.
