RCLCO has offices in Austin, Denver, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, San Francisco, and Washington, DC, and offers an array of consulting services across three major service areas: Real Estate Economics; Management Consulting (including Talent Advisory); and RCLCO Fund Advisors, an affiliate firm focused on institutional real estate investment strategy.

Position Summary: RCLCO seeks a qualified Vice President for our Compensation Consulting team, with a strong preference for someone based in Washington, DC. This role will lead and execute on consulting engagements alongside the Managing Director and serve as a trusted advisor to C-suite leadership, Board of Directors, and Human Resources on all matters related to compensation strategy.

The ideal candidate for this position has demonstrated knowledge of the commercial real estate industry, including typical functions and roles, capitalization, asset classes, and GP/LP structures. The individual has strong judgement and problem-solving skills, operates with a sense of urgency, is comfortable working in an entrepreneurial, high growth environment, is a savvy communicator and presenter, and can advance project work autonomously. The role will include a range of tasks, and may look different day-to-day, though can be highlighted generally as shown below.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the engagement leader for compensation consulting projects, handling all client communications and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Participate in business development efforts including joining introductory calls with new clients and developing engagement letters
  • Develop short- and long-term incentive plan recommendations that reflect market norms and client needs, preferences, and philosophy
  • Conduct research via external sources and RCLCO's internal databases to identify appropriate market comparisons for compensation benchmarking
  • Communicate, through both written memoranda and presentations, key findings and recommendations to clients
  • Review work produced by junior team members and provide regular feedback
  • Serve as a thought partner for ongoing enhancements to RCLCO's annual Real Estate Compensation & Benefits Survey, which is the industry's most comprehensive compensation survey, representing over 400 companies nationwide
  • Lead efforts to drive continuous improvements and enhance teamwide processes, templates, and databases

Qualifications:

  • Years of professional experience: 7+ years, ideally in commercial real estate, private equity, or financial services
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in a business-related field
  • Knowledge of commercial real estate fundamentals including typical functions and roles, capitalization, asset classes, and GP/LP structures; familiarity with promote/carried interest is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience working directly with C-suite executives
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong PowerPoint skills, including developing executive-level presentations with compelling visuals, graphics, charts, etc.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and analysis, calculating summary statistics, and standard formulas (VLOOKUP, INDEX MATCH, IF THEN, etc.)

Estimated annual base salary: $130K-160K, plus annual bonus. Estimated total annual comp: $236K-286K
