The main difference is that Remote Real Estate Appraisers focus on property valuation through certifications and remote work, while Real Estate Agents handle property sales and client interactions in person. Both roles are essential in the real estate industry but serve different functions and require different credentials.

What does a remote real estate appraiser do?

A Remote Real Estate Appraiser evaluates properties to determine their market value, but performs most or all of their work off-site. Using digital tools, online databases, and sometimes virtual tours, they analyze property data, comparable sales, and market trends. Their findings are typically compiled into detailed appraisal reports used for mortgage lending, sales, or tax assessment purposes. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of real estate markets, all while working from a remote location.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote real estate appraiser, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Real Estate Appraiser, you need a solid understanding of real estate markets, appraisal methodologies, and state-specific licensing or certification. Familiarity with appraisal software (such as a la mode or CoreLogic), MLS databases, and digital mapping tools is typically required. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and clear written communication are vital soft skills for producing accurate and defensible reports while working independently. These competencies ensure precise property valuations, regulatory compliance, and effective remote collaboration with clients and stakeholders.

Are remote real estate appraisers in demand right now?

Remote real estate appraisers are currently in demand due to increased reliance on digital valuation tools and remote assessments. The growth of online appraisal platforms and the need for flexible, efficient services have expanded opportunities for remote appraisers, especially those with relevant certifications and experience in property valuation. However, demand can vary based on regional market conditions and industry trends.

How do remote real estate appraisers typically collaborate with property owners and local agents to gather necessary property information?

Remote Real Estate Appraisers often rely on strong communication skills to coordinate with property owners, real estate agents, and sometimes local inspectors to obtain accurate property details. They frequently use video calls, digital photos, and virtual tours to assess property conditions when in-person visits aren't possible. Maintaining clear records and following up promptly ensures that all required data is collected efficiently. Building relationships with local contacts is key to overcoming challenges like limited access or incomplete information.

Licensed Land Surveyor (PLS) - West Palm Beach, FL
NexGen Land Solutions | Full-Time | Remote-Friendly | M-F 8AM-5PM
NexGen Land Solutions is hiring a Florida-licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to support our high-volume West Palm Beach operations. This is a production-focused role - the majority of work is mortgage and boundary surveys for title agents and real estate attorneys in one of Florida's busiest real estate corridors. If you're a PLS who can move efficiently, maintain quality, and own your workload with minimal hand-holding, this role is built for you.
What You'll Do
  • Stamp and seal mortgage, boundary, and topographic surveys for closing-driven clients (title companies, real estate attorneys)
  • QA and review survey deliverables produced by drafters before client delivery
  • Communicate with clients on turnaround timelines, scope questions, and deliverable issues
  • Oversee project flow from field data receipt through final sealed document
  • Flag compliance issues and ensure all work meets Florida Chapter 472 requirements
  • Coordinate with field crews and drafters to resolve data gaps or discrepancies efficiently
Who You Are
  • Active Florida PLS license - required, no exceptions
  • Experienced with mortgage survey volume - you know the FAR/BAR standards and title agent expectations
  • Efficient and accurate under production pressure without cutting corners on compliance
  • Professional communicator - comfortable handling client calls and email threads directly
  • Florida resident (or willing to relocate) - remote-friendly but Florida-based required
Why NexGen
West Palm Beach is one of the most active real estate markets in the state, and NexGen is positioned to grow with it. You'll have steady, consistent work, modern systems, and a remote-friendly setup that respects your time. No micromanagement - just clear expectations and a team that delivers.

Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with licensure and production experience.
Benefits: Medical, dental, vision and voluntary benefits offered. Retirement plan offered. PTO & Holidays.
Location: West Palm Beach, FL - remote-friendly; Florida residents preferred
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM
